Bank Holiday Monday 28th May

Good Morning

We have 2 tips today with one each from Placespotter at Redcar and from Robin and Huntingdon and a smattering of "Mentions".

Our more established Members will know that we used to take Bank Holiday Monday's off as the sheer number of horses/meetings and the fact many have "punting day off" made them a nightmare. In the past year or so, we have had a quiet day and tried to find a bit of fun and value, and we will do the same again today.

We have had some nice winners and placed horses on Friday with Sir Titan and Uber Cool winning well and Quoteline Direct and My Girl Maisie placing and on Saturday with Society Power and The Grand Visir winning and Crownthorpe; Final Venture and Edward Lewis placing at nice odds. I have been left a bit frustrated though that with a small but nice net profit on both days to Advised Odds; we have not been able to hammer home that advantage. Yesterday saw Solioquoy grab a place if you took the enhanced place odds but the others ran poorly. I did speak via e-mail to an SP2A Member who was at Uttoxeter and he said that Cintex got very badly spooked in the pre-parade ring by a huge clap of thunder; and to ignore the run as some horses were badly affected by the weather conditions all afternoon. So Cintex will be tracked as the run was too bad to be true form.

The weather will play a part too today. I visited my sister in Worcestershire yesterday afternoon and it was humid but dry. We had a very eventful drive home with the M42/M40 Junction effectively blocked due to flash floods that hit the Birmingham area and they had a months worth of average rainfall (60mm) in 15 very alarming minutes it transpires. The rain though was so localised that it makes it hard to assess Going at some Courses today, so we will stick with Redcar and Huntingdon, a couple of decent races to attack and some certainty about the Going and likely humidity.
