Friday 13th July

Good Morning

The dry and hot spell has certainly taken its toll on field sizes today at Ascot; Chepstow and York in particular, and the Card at Newmarket is not particularly appealing with the only big field race today being a 13 runner 2 year old race. There seemed to be a significant high draw and prominent pace bias there yesterday and it will be interesting to watch and learn today, with a view to tomorrow, especially as the Stalls positions may vary and bring the near side in to play tomorrow.

I actually drove through some rain last night; first appreciable amount I have seen in about 5 weeks (no I've not been in a darkened room); it was between Gloucester and Bristol and quite significant, and there is potential for more down the western side of the UK and in to the Midlands later on, whether that will impact on Chepstow; Ffos Llas or possibly Chester, is impossible to really know, and I suspect, not heavy enough to really "get in to the ground".

We have found a confident pick from ROBIN at Ffos Llas and a speculative but confident poke at Chester, and a few other ditties on a quiet day despite a lot of races and meetings.

We had a terrible start to yesterday at Newmarket, all 3 ran very poorly, later evidence suggests that being off the pace was a big handicap but they had prime draws, so no excuses and we then picked up with 3 very decent and solid placed runs from Etikaal and Wotabreeze who were runners up at 10/1 and 7/1 respectively and Gamesome who was 3rd at 10/1, so a case of mitigating the disaster of the first race, when if one of the placed runners had obliged, it would have delivered a modicum of profit. Taking the disaster race out, a promising day and we have and will revisit scenarios where we put more than 2 horses up in a race!

Plenty to look forwards to Horse Racing wise tomorrow and we will be back with ELITE SERVICE tips going out at around 7.00am and DAILY TIPS at around 9.00am

Lets hope for one of today's to get that little bit of luck in running and to oblige with a win.
