Monday 23rd July

The weather forecast for Horse Racing consideration for the week looks horrific, very high temperatures up to 30 degrees and stifling unremitting heat. The only good point is that it looks like it will be a bit cooler up North and we have some great action in Yorkshire at the "Go Racing in Yorkshire Festival" and with some bits of rain, likely best fields and option will be up there.

There is Racing today at Ayr; Beverley; Cartmel (NH); Windsor and in Ireland, some decent fields BUT, very low Grade bookie fodder, but we will explore and try a new angle with 3 horses that would at best be 1/4 point singles but who combined may give us a bit of fun with a small accumulator. A PATENT covers 3 singles; 3 doubles and a treble; the maximum stake I would suggest is £1 e/w, so the bet costs £14, that would be MAXIMUM but if you want 50p units or lower than £1 it is your choice. I think e/w is paramount and the other point to make is probably best NOT to "get on immediately". I am always reluctant to advise any form of accumulator as a few hundred putting the same bets on in a small window can alert all kinds of Booking algorhythms, I don't envisage any price collapse, so get on any time before 5.25; BOG if you wish and if at all possible, place the bet cash in a good old fashioned Bookies.

In it's own strange way the past 2 days have encapsulated the up's and down's of Sport and Sports Betting. There is no hiding the fact that the past month has been very difficult for the core Horse Racing tips. There is no doubt that July is going to be our poorest month since our last losing month (August 2017) and a rarity, if it is a losing month, only the 3rd in the past 24 months . We could try to "magic up" a couple of 50/1 or 33/1 winners, that is not beyond us, and a few did enjoy an advised £550 Tricast a few weeks back, but DISAPPOINTING it has been, no hiding place.

The results on Saturday were very poor, may be not the disaster one of two seem to think, but opinions dictate whether the individual defines simply win or lose as black and white, or unlucky losers (not winning or placing) as shades of grey. A 5th and 6th from Daily Tips were close but not close enough; and The Elite may have expected a better ride on the decently priced Sir Chauvelin than it got.

I know some Members will consider betting on any sport other than Horse Racing as some form of "heresy" again, it is always about personal opinion, which is respected. We have long though sought to evolve SP2A in new directions and other "niche sports". There are some sports we won't touch (like soccer) but when you find and can assist an exceptional Golf Tipping talent in Kevin; and with help, with assistance from David; re-ignite a personal passion of mine in Speedway, a sport I was proud to be involved in on and off the bike at a very serious level in the past; to deliver a nice profit and deliver some analysis that has found praise for its quality; then it can only  be; I hope; be for the benefit of the SP2A Membership and family.

I understand the frustration when the horses lose, I appreciate the nice comments when they win. I particularly like getting comments from people like Matthew who watched Speedway for the first time on TV and not only enjoyed it, but made a few quid from it, and from Members like Andy; who made similar comments about The Golf. Both the Golf and Speedway tips were TOTALLY FREE this weekend, the Golf mailed to your inbox, the Speedway regularly flagged up online. I am sure some will say "I'm not interested in Golf or especially Speedway"; that is absolutely your prerogative. If you wish to judge us on 1 months poor Horse Racing results or 6--12-24-36 excellent horse racing results, that is also your prerogative, if you backed the Golf winner at 38/1 (and the winner was not the only winning element, also Rose was placed and 2 early win to lay bets) and Speedway with Zmarzlik winning at 8/1 and providing outstanding entertainment in the process, then I hope that you enjoyed watching and winning.

To all I would merely pose this question, "if we had delivered a 38/1 and 8/1 Horse winner over the weekend and a few places" would you be pretty happy?, the fact that these were not horses will irk some and not others. The bigger picture for me is (a) value for money (b) seeking new profitable betting angles and (c) the evolution of SP2A as a world class portal and an developing force. As the saying goes "don't look a gift horse in the mouth"; and having multiple strings to your bow and a Plan b and c. when Pla a is not working as it should; something many other struggling Horse Racing Tipsters and analysts may love to have right now.

That does not hide my concern at the Horse Tipping side, that is the core business; and I will address tomorrow what we are continuing to do about it; especially if the drought turns in to a heatwave again. Later today we will also publish a TOTALLY NEW and very relevant and current article from Alan - it will be available in the Members Paddock later tonight and in the morning mail tomorrow, I will put a link up to it.

Back with some more tomorrow.
