Sunday 9th December

The 4 mile Borders Handicap Chase is a "must attack" race today, especially as the 2017 renewal was lost to bad weather, it is usually a slog in the mud, Good to Soft today; likely to ride genuinely "soft" I would say so no excuses for anyone but a few "out and out veteran plodders" may find the pace a bit too lively.

We have selections and analysis from PLACESPOTTER and also a Mention at Huntingdon.

We started off with POP ROCKSTAR a runner up yesterday for the Daily Tips, backed in from 9/1 to a short price, if you got the advised Odds a decent enough each way return. The two tipped and suggested "win savers" then won at Chepstow (BAKO DE LA SAULAIRE and STEELY ADDITION) and whilst that is a tactic I don't intend to over-use, I think on Saturday's and better Class meetings, a logic and rationale that can allow you to have a dart at something longer odds with a security blanket "banker" up your sleeve. I think the way to go is 1 point each way on the longer shot and 1 point win on the "win saver" and that is something we will expand on during the coming weeks and become a norm on Saturday's and bigger meetings.

The Elite Service again disappointed despite some excellent analysis, it is just not happening for David at all; at the moment and that is a shame given his extensive knowledge, huge commitment and very detailed work on each race he attacks. We will carry on with the Service in current format for the remaining 3 Saturday's of 2018 and probably a few big Races between Christmas and New Year but we are already working on something significantly different in terms of approach for the Big Saturday races and Festivals in 2019; in terms of an alternative to Elite Service in its current format.

Back with more tomorrow and Results and other updates in the morning by 8.30am
