Tuesday 17th July

There are meetings at Bath (tarmac like Going again); Beverley (reports of significant rain last night); Thirsk and Worcester today, and very few serious Betting options. At least we are seeing some rain but hard to quantify how much and we need something more sustained to get in to the ground. Chatting to a few other Tipsters (not SP2A); it seems many are suffering similar lulls in form, a few exceptions, but they tend to be the ones who will put up 12-20 horses a day and seek to make a net overall profit. Good luck to them, it is a model that can be very successful occasionally, but devastating to a Betting Bank on days when one big winner does not "drop in".

We will ride out the dry spell, pick more selectively, and will also return to the concept of putting the tips up in order of what we think most probable to deliver, not quite a return to Nap / NB but if you want to have just one bet for instance, until the rains come, have the top one on the list. We will also (with the exception of Elite Service on a Saturday) refrain from more than one selection per race, unless there are exceptional reasons for doing so, all of this applies under the current conditions though, and is not a long term strategy change. Quite what the predicted "hosepipe ban" will mean for Racing, I'm not sure, many tracks have their own wells/springs and/or long term licences to water, but in the midst of a ban (if it comes) it's really not good PR to be flushing millions of gallons a day on to a race track is it??

A mixed bag yesterday, Nicholas T was as unlucky a loser as you will probably see at 15/2 and tipped at 8/1; it simply could not find a gap, when it did, the winner had just gone and a very fast finishing runner up (another one). When things are rolling your way, these types win, when they are not, they don't, that's racing; that's luck, and i have always believed that it evens out, right now; I think it owes us a sustained lucky run. Watching Nicholas T race back does not help lift the feeling that he was given an awful ride in the circumstances.

Frantical was given a strange ride, not for the first time held up, Windsor is turn after turn and not the place to try such extreme tactics in my opinion, but another who was doing its best work late on and one for the Tracker for sure. Rassaq never really got involved, it really should be competitive in races like that on form as recent as 10 months ago, and something would appear to be physically wrong with it. The reduced stakes and place for Nicholas T  meant a 1 point loss to advised and 1.125 points to SP, so by no means a disaster; and we only need one to go in at the decent odds we are tipping at to turn a profit, and one suspects the tide of bad luck and narrow losers.

With Horse Racing very quiet; we wanted to give you an added little extra; so we will send out FREE GOLF TIPS to all Members tomorrow, for The British Open, starting on Thursday. Kevin has been in great form of late, as many SP2A Golf Followers will testify. Those who subscribe to SP2A Golf already will get a FREE EXTRA week added on and will also get first sight on Kevin's tips for the BRITISH OPEN when they are released tomorrow, and we will then give a 2-3 leeway to "get on" before mailing the tips and analysis out to ALL Members later in the afternoon tomorrow

I think there may be similar decent extra betting markets around the Speedway GP in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium at the weekend; and whilst we have covered all Rounds so far with some success, we have left it for Members to find on the website ; so with Saturday's Horse Racing e-mail, there will also be Speedway tips (for those that want them) added to the bottom of the e-mail for some added betting interest; with the more detailed analysis (from me this Round as David has a break) on the website with Free access.

We have a couple of big priced pokes today in races where some Bookies offer enhanced odds to 4th place at Worcester and Thirsk.
