Tuesday 26th June
We had a runner up and a third from the 3 selections yesterday; Broadhaven Honey came to win and was just beaten on the line by a 50/1 shot in Molly Jones and no complaints and a bit of each way shrapnel. Nemean Lion who was advised at around 16/1 ran a better race as anticipated in third with an SP of 9/1 and one we will continue to keep an eye on. The only disappointment was Shaiyzar who ran well enough in 5th.
The win of Molly Jones emphasised the need to look for specific "firm ground" form until we get some rain, no amount of watering will really work once temperatures get close to 30 degrees and the sun starts baking, unless they have been watering for weeks. We have added a few selections today simply because I know Newton Abbot have watered well and also the Going at Beverley; where it is a bit cooler, may be decent too, later in the week at the likes of Bath; Salisbury; Newmarket and Nottingham, we could get something with the texture of green tarmac, so possibly fewer runners and smaller fields.
There is racing today at Beverley; Brighton and Newbury on The Flat and at Newton Abbot over the Jumps with one Irish Fixture too.
That's it for tips and mentions today.
Tomorrow in addition to the tips at around 8.30am we will be making some major and hopefully very positive news announcements around Noon....I will explain more tomorrow.
