Wednesday 1st August

Good Morning;

A nice winner from David to start the week at Glorious Goodwood; he found the runner up with his second race analysis and Suedois did everything but win for Placespotter, although in fairness, the winner on the "nod" would have been a very unlucky loser, but fine margins denied up a win and instead a bit of loose change. That's a nice winner though on Saturday and yesterday for Elite and after a difficult month, increasing signs of life at the end of a dark tunnel, and August will have a simple target to recoup July losses at the very least; and that would at least take us back to the very strong overall 2018 position we were in at the end of June, and which is still very healthy.

We will have 2 Goodwood races today from ELITE and one from Michael's Showcase Daily Tips, I did sit down and study The Galway Plate. I love these big Irish races and a 1-2-3-4 and £5600 Tricast and a 2-3-4-5 in the Thyestes amongst others indicates we are as good as anyone at them, but this years Galway Plate left me frankly "cold and fearful". I am all for cream rising to the top, but no recent field better emphasises the inordinate and unfair power that a cartel of 5-6 Yards and 3-4 Owners have over Irish racing at the moment. The "little guy / up and comer" always has to have a chance, but with these current circumstances, if Irish Racing is not careful it will "kill the goose that has laid the golden egg". I will not kid anyone, when certain Trainers and Owners have multiple entries in a race like this, who knows what is going on, and what chance does anyone else have. As a punting medium therefore, reluctantly; I just could not find anything with any degree of confidence. I love Irish Racing and without the Irish influence globally, Racing would be far poorer; but matters; in my humble opinion; have to be addressed quickly in Ireland, to stop a few billionaires and their ego; from destroying centuries of tradition.

So we will stick with Goodwood as the remainder of UK Racing is distinctly moderate and we will be moving away from C5/C6 Flat handicaps for the next few months in search of more consistent punting and profit.

We have Elite tips and analysis from David in the opening 2 races at Goodwood, and tips and analysis  from Michael in the closing race at Goodwood at 5.55. Inexplicably they schedule an Arab Race, between the last two proper races?, there is a "mention" too form me in that final race.
