Hot 2 Trot - Taunton 2.20 2 Sweettoothtommy 8/1 / 9 Trehan Cross 12/1 (both each way)
The 2.20 is a competitive little long distance race of no great quality and it is a bit of a surprise
to see Monderon such a warm favourite at ths trip, over which he is unproven. The likes of
Somerset Lias and You Too Pet will attract a lot of money and the latter could overturn a
recent defeat at the hands of Somerset Lias; a horse we have tipped a few times who
has invariably placed, it finally won last time after 27 races but hardy looks on to be sure
to follow up over this longer trip. There are a pair though that catch the eye-:
SWEETTOOTHTOMMY has frankly looked disappointing for David Pipe, but has always
looked like 3 miles + would suit and the Yard are persevering and this is about as low as
they would want to be in terms of grade. There is one very interesting bit of Point 2 Point
form too over this kind of trip with a horse of Nicky Richards (Takingrisks) now rated 122;
when put up to this kind of trip, and that kind of mark would be a stone in hand here!!!
The other one we like is TREHAN CROSS, gets in off 10 stones, actually 2lbs out of
the handicap but that is negligible and James Banks is an excellent lightweight jockey;
the trip is no problem, its a nice mark and at 12/1 another one in with a better chance
than the market indicates - but don't go overboard on either one.
