Newbury 8.25 5 Punkawallah @ 8/1 + 2 Fair Power @ 10/1 - both 1 point each way (have a look at PP were going 10's and 12's early)
This is possibly the most competitive race of the day and I have strong feeling that the race may pan out well for both. I think it is a tip in itself that Dascombe brings PUNKAWALLAH here instead of the more logical meeting at Haydock where he excels. The horse is dropped in Class; won off 65 and 67 last year and slowly getting back to a mark it can win off, and drawn in Stall 1 here; with very little obvious pace in the race, could have the run of the race. No Kingscote to get the fractions right, but the replacement is a very decent and capable deputy with similar ability from the front. I looked at something that could outrun odds or thrive off the likely pacesetter and was drawn to a pair, of which Jumping Jack could nick a place but more interesting is FAIR POWER, the jockey booking is interesting, usually better on downhill Courses like Epsom and so another that avoids the more obvious Fixture; is also dropped in Grade a little and off an increasingly interesting handicap mark.
My first 2 Showcase races have seen 2nd and 3rd placed efforts at nice odds in both, so hopefully we can go one better and get a 1-2 and for Tricast players I'll add Jumping Jack in to the equation and if you want a perm Ourmillion.
