Newton Abbot 4.30

Newton Abbot 4.30 4 Kalifourchon @ 12/1 + 8 Glanvilles Guest @ 11/1 - both 1 point each way (Ladbrokes + Coral + Sky enhanced to 4th place)
+ Tricast suggestion in write up.

A Class 4 competitive Handicap Hurdle over 2 miles 5 and a bit furlongs on Good ground, and I'm told, very little rain in Devon in the past week. I'm not convinced by favourite Bradford Bridge over this trip or at the odds and the bigger danger to my selections is Marble Moon, trainer Evan Williams is in good form, horse comes here seeking a treble, but with wins off 90 and 100, may be 107 will just catch it out, and I want to take it on but will form final part of a TRICAST PERM.

Atlantic Grey has winning form in Class 5 but not convinced off this mark, upped to Class 4 and over this trip, Fleeting Visit has been running consistently but could be stretched at the business end as they turn in here and that leaves me with KALIFOURCHON and GLANVILLES GUEST. The Course win of GLANVILLES GUEST came in a Class 5 off a mark of 96, but it has run well since upped to Class 5 and off an increased mark; easily best form is here and I just felt that at the Odds of 11/1, with 3 major Bookies enhancing to 4th place (which is the suggested betting route) that he should be very capable of a place at least. KALIFOURCHON sums up the Pipe yard at the moment, under-performed, off a very nice mark and should really be looking to exploit it, and is due a win. The horse has developed some quirks, often hit a flat spot early and has to be hard ridden for a few strides. That said, the drop in trip, slightly faster pace and absence of anything else which much assured stamina, could play to its strengths and I can see it staying on stoutly, if not spectacularly and if it does become a battle over the final furlong, could be the one to oblige at a nice price.
