Ayr 3.40

Ayr 3.40 6 Speed Company @ 9/1 (WH/B365/BV) - 1 POINT EACH WAY

A competitive 10 Furlong Class 3 race where the improving and recent winning Glasses Up and Good Boy Alfie head the market with penalties. Both has run well and could have scope still off these marks, but both have run on the Firm Going in the worst of the heat and that may start to take its toll; in this slightly stronger company.

Not So Sleepy will be a big danger back in a Class 3, travels a along way and ground should be fine. My only niggle with this horse is its almost guaranteed ability to "find trouble in running" it is a recurring theme of almost every race analysis about the horse. One day it will have a clear run and this is a wide straight a gallopers dream but at around 4/1, I don't see much value, other than a small win saver if you wish.

The one I really like is SPEED COMPANY for the in-form John Quinn yard. It needed a recent run here after a break, Quinn has a number of well handicapped horses that he has adroitly kept away from the excesses of climate and in that run the horse travelled noticeably well for  along way in to the race. That should have just tightened everything up and this Course and Distance winner off 96 last year and off 94 at Doncaster the season before looks incredibly well handicapped on just its 4th run of the season off a mark of 87. There is 8/1 generally, but 3 of the big firms go 9/1 early and well worth a full point each way at those odds.
