Newbury 2.25

THE ADVISOR - Newbury 2.25 Handicap - Class 2 - 2 miles 1/2 furlong - 14 run - Good (rain about)

Sweet William for the Gosden yard steps up 1/2 mile and could be anything frankly but I'm happy to oppose it with more proven stamina form and evidence. Aztec Empire is feared but probably best on AW and firmer turf that this is likely to be, Zinc White was a shock winner at Chester after 2 years off and is also feared in the likely conditions and at bigger odds you can never rule out the likes of Euchen Glen for whom 2 miles may be just outside of its ideal trip and Solent Getaway a Distance winner and best on Good ground who could outrun odds of 33/1 provided it doesn't rain too much.

I'll just flag up THE GRAND VISR who will need every Yard of the 2 miles here and who could be outpaced early in the race, but it stays all day, more rain would boost it's chances and if you fancy a crafty £2 e/w on anything at a price today this may be a good pick!

My three against the field though in preference order with some enhanced places on offer are; NATHANIEL GREEN who looks the one to beat, blinker should help, it looks a winnable mark and rain won't be a concern, with the Gosden horse stepping up in trip I'll wager a 2 point WIN bet on this one. NOVEL LEGEND looks a very solid each way proposition despite a 6lbs penalty, it gets the trip, won't mind any rain and looks a bit of an enhanced place e/w banker on form. Finally for a shrapnel bet I really think that POSTILEO is another for whom every case can be made and no excuses found e.g a solid e/w tip, its proven stamina up to 2 miles and 2 furlongs, best form is clearly on Good to Soft or Soft ground and it looks very well handicapped and well priced in in early markets.
