Monday 18th January

It's hard to know what to say about yesterday's Racing at Punchestown.

We tipped Owl Creek Bridge when it was 33/1 as tips went out, not sure when or where the plunge came in to 7/1, let's be very clear we can't and never have been able to move markets. That anomaly aside the race was eventful to say the least, started at the first which took Half Shot effectively out of the race and then at the 7th the three most prominent in the market were carried out or refused. We've always been pretty clear about "luck", it evens out over time and you'll never find us whining when it's out nor gloating when it's in. It's easy in this game to get too morose on losing runs and too cocky on winning runs, you have to take the rough with the smooth. We'll say thank you for a nice and lucky winner and move on.

There was also a very good run for Goulane Jessie who did everything as analysed and predicted by Sean, if it had jumped just a little better may have won. The final race on the Card also saw a litany of jumping errors and Minellafordollars was involved in that as were several other market principles. Not sure the reason for the number of incidents, may just have been very difficult ground to jump out of?..

There is NH at Ayr and Punchestown today, an AW Fixture at Wolverhampton and a Bumpers for Jumpers on the AW at Lingfield, we'll focus on a long distance Handicap Hurdle race at both Ayr and Punchestown.
