Monday 26th October

A couple of decent enough placed efforts from the 3 selections yesterday.

Ulterior Motives ran on to be third at Kelso and looked like a horse to keep a close eye on, certainly a couple more furlongs and heavy Going should see it find a race. I always have a close look at any 66/1 winner to see if we missed something, on this occasion it would have been impossible to find the inexplicable improvement in form.

Pobbles Bay was a running on runner up; at Aintree at a nice each way price and Vieux Lion Rouge ran well enough. The winner won from the front having got in to a nice rhythm a typical Aintree Hurdle race in many ways. I'm not sure if Aintree form really translates to anywhere else, so a race to throw up winners purely from who was in it, as opposed to anything specific form wise.

On to today and some unfathomable very low Grade Heavy Going Flat Racing at Redcar and Leicester and to a degree Galway as well; AW at Newcastle, Jumping at Wexford and Ayr, where Michael thinks he may have found one at very big Odds that the market may have over-priced and worth a small investment when you look at the other 11 runners in the race.
