Monday 3rd January

Disappointment in The Sussex National with Eclair De Guye and Salty Boy (who finished lame) both being caught out by going too fast too early in a race where it paid to sit just off the pace. Sadly Seaston Spirit seems a shadow of the very promising horse he seemed to be at this stage of 2021. If there are any horses to take out of the race and track we think that a couple of the David Pipe French imports (Via Dolorosa and El Paso Wood) who both ran well to about the 3 mile mark should be tracked and look probable improvers at 3 miles > 3 miles 2 furlongs.

A decent enough 3rd place (just pipped for runner up) at Ayr from Silk Or Scarlet at 12/1 and that one together with Your Place should definitely pay their way  and deserve to be persevered with Tracker wise.

Paddy Planet won at 5/2 (in from 3/1) as strongly predicted, we don't boom about 20/1 winners and certainly not about nailed on favourites but it's never a bad thing to have a winner after a poor few days to get that monkey off the back so to speak. Nothing else from that race really stood out.

We're back to a degree of normality today despite it officially being a Bank Holiday, moderate quality and quantity at Musselburgh, a couple of AW Meetings (we will have a few AW tips in the coming days) and a competitive NH Card at Southwell.
