Saturday 18th December

It was certainly a topsy turvy day at Uttoxeter yesterday with 2 tips, who were both very well supported on Course close to off time, Dr Oakley and Dorrana both running inexplicably badly and Pulling Up very early in their races. It is hard to excuse such runs other than in big fields like yesterday if you just miss the break you can be 50 yards behind the leader after just 200 yards of the race and horses can "sulk" and quickly lose interest, they are pack animals after all. There is a tendency for us all to get disheartened when this happens, but as we saw with Puzzle Cache on Thursday, having run similarly poorly just a week before doesn't mean the horse can't and won't come out and run as form suggests on it's next run. So for that reason it will be very interesting to monitor Dr Oakley and Dorrana next time and to give them both a second chance or at least an excuse for yesterday.

Thankfully we had a 12/1 advised winner, 8/1 SP in Kazzontherazz for the very much in-form Martin Keighley yard ensured a small profit on the day if you got on at the earlier prices and maybe we'll make a nice profit longer term on the others on another day soon.

The feature Meetings today ar at Ascot and Haydock, we'll focus on the Tommy Whittle at Haydock as the feature race and also some in depth analysis on the Handicap Chase at Ascot at 3.00, the Betfair Hurdle is never a race that particularly interests us to be honest, but one of our Tipsters is very keen on one at a price (at least it's a price at the moment) in a race that looks typically tough to fathom.
