Saturday 23rd April

A decent run by Dubai Devils at Perth yesterday and he got the closest to Slipway who was given an excellent ride and slipped the field turning in. He's probably the most frustrating horse for us this winter is Slipway, we'd tracked him just prior to him winning a poor race at Southwell at 33/1 but didn't flag him up on the daily e-mail, we took him off the TRackers after a poor run next time and to be frank, Southwell is hardly the place to find many progressive 3 mile long distance types, but fair play, he is clearly one to keep an eye on in suitable Grades and deserved his win yesterday.

The quality of racing today is dictated by the season ending Bet 365 Gold Cup at Sandown and some decent 3 year old Flat Trial races either side of the Irish Sea but overall the quantity and quantity of runners is not great. So we'll focus on the big race at Sandown, maybe not in the usual detail as it looks to be between around half of the 15 runner field if truth be told. Our Northern expert looked at a class 5 and class 2 Handicap at Haydock and is much more confident in the former than the latter and Sean has cast his eye over a 20 runner handicap at Navan.
