Saturday 26th September

An ultimately frustrating day yesterday that hinged on one of those "what happened next" Races at Uttoxeter.

The selection Drumreagh ran an excellent race, up with the pace for almost all of the near 3 miles, just tired 2 out but was staying on well in 3rd when the 2 horses who led in to the last met trouble, the leader falling and badly hampering the runner up, that in turn affect Drumreagh against the far rail, but it recovered momentum and seemingly led towards the line, only to be collared by a fast finishing Airton, who had been less badly affected by the melee and who looked to have been held by our runner up just prior to the melee. It would have been a lucky winner no doubt, but the bold run deserved some reward and you'd argue unlucky in the context of v Airton.

The results from Limerick were probably as bad as Sean has ever done in a single race, all ran inexplicably badly, Sean's form and prowess is there for every one to see, so he will be very disappointed but an ROI in excess of 60% in the 12 months plus he has been with us suggests it's a blip and he is human after all.

Lots of good action today, on the Flat and over the Jumps in UK and in Ireland, so we will focus on 3 races, The Cambridgeshire with the usual excellent analysis from David, a decent Handicap Chase at Market Rasen, something of a tricky/quirky Track where Course form is vital as it rarely translates elsewhere, and a decent Handicap at Haydock, where we think we have found a pair of very well handicapped horses ready to strike.
