Sunday 5th July

A decent enough run from Daily Tip TINADALI at Epsom yesterday and an excellent runner up effort from COUNT OTTO for the Elite Service and David, with his suggested soft ground horse Alemaratalyoum a good third.

As for The Derby, I really don't know what to say. The way I read it -:

An outstanding and enterprising ride on the winner. He set perfect fractions, just under standard time. Those closest could not really attack in the first mile as they had stamina concerns, and the mistake the others made was to watch those in 2nd / 3rd / 4th as opposed to the one up front, thinking it would "come back to them". It didn't.

It reminded me of Cauthan and Slip Anchor. Clearly Cauthan a much better known and rated jock than the guy yesterday and Henry Cecil clearly more popular than AOB but you have to give credit where it's due. I am one of the biggest critics of the tactics of AOB with multiple entries in these big Races but they can't be blamed for anything yesterday other than wonderful opportunism.

The social Media keyboard warriors can moan about the result, the fact the horse is a poor Derby winner, call for the other jockeys to be hung drawn and quartered, I simply think, "get over it" look at and applaud the winner and move on.

Tips and Analysis today from Robin in the 1.30 at Haydock and the 4.30 at Doncaster
