Thursday 12th May

A very poor and frustrating day at York yesterday for us.

Global Storm was 4th in the opener just missing a place with most Bookies although if you took the advice to go with Hills or Coral at 8/1 advised a bit of change back at least. I didn't think it was given the best of rides to be honest, a few have pointed out too about the ride given to Sir Plato on Tuesday, and this mirrored that when the young jockey seemed to wait to long and wanted too much cover, but it probably only cost the difference between 3rd and 4th realistically.

The Sprint Handicap was very disappointing, most of ours tried to go with a frenetic pace set by the ultimate winner and faded out of contention a furlong out by which time the writing was on the wall. The high to middle numbers did best but it was hard to draw any bias other than pace and the fractions run by the winner and the way it kept on, I have to say, the more you watch it the more impressive they are. I think Jason Weaver had it spot on when he pointed out that the jockey just let the winner run and enjoyed the run and he rewarded them with a fine win.

The number of arrows thrown at one race when it does go "belly up" has again been the subject of some constructive feedback overnight, and something that we will look at and take on board for sure.

Plenty of Racing today but not very many races with more than 8 runners to attack, so we'll try for the opener at York and the 1 miles handicap at 3pm also at York.
