Thursday 14th January

One of those days yesterday full of ifs buts and maybes and maybe more than normal in a fascinating if low Grade race at Plumpton. Alka Step had taken the sensible wide route, was tracking the winner nicely (more of the winner in a second) when making a bad error 4 out, it was quickly pulled up and we hope it will be OK, may just be an intelligent bit of riding as in those conditions very hard when momentum is lost. If the horse is sound, one to follow very closely as it could have gone very close. Tractor Fred never went a yard which can happen in those conditions and run best ignored in terms of the overall form of the horse.

Soarlikeaneagle took the inner route and again looked to be going very well just 3 out but when push came to shove found very little, there is a winner there and may be worth persevering with. The bigger frustration was that it was a toss up at odds around 33/1 at time of writing up analysis between him and One For Dunstan, as I referred to in the notes, deciding factor was the Going, yet the winner, massively supported in to a fraction of those Odds handled conditions fine for a Yard as we pointed out a few days ago is very much in form. One that sadly got away.

Today looks equally moderate but tantalisingly competitive so we'll have a bash at a long distance Hurdle at Bangor (where the top few in the market look likely to dominate the Chase at 1.20, and a long distance Chase at Fontwell, where we have some good old friends lining up.
