Thursday 28th April

We can't hide away from the fact that it's been a bitterly disappointing first 2 days at Punchestown and whilst it's not the first time we've struggled at this Meeting, we will throttle back today and just focus on the one race there.

We started the week with a 22/1 winner at Ayr but in reality there has been precious little to attack since in the UK with the dry weather meaning restricted field sizes and the same applies today with barely any races of note with fields of more than 8 at Chepstow, Musselburgh and Redcar, or even on the AW. WE have the start of the 2022-2023 NH season tomorrow (crazy isn't it) and then of course Guineas weekend at Newmarket and lets not forget some of the incredible winners we've had at that Meeting including a 100/1 Guineas winner a few years back that followed a 50/1 place the day before. We'll also hope for some bigger fields back up at some of the Northern Flat tracks over the next few days.

Sean is at the Punchestown Festival and that can create communication difficulties from hotels and in fairness to him can cut down on study time with a very active social scene, so Ian will step in to the saddle today with his take on the big Handicap Hurdle at 6.00, the best betting heat of the day.
