NORTHERN - Catterick 1.00 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 3 miles 1 furlong - Soft - 14 run
There are a few in here who catch the eye like Bullion Boss who is 8lbs above its last win mark but showed up nicely on seasonal debut and Derrick D'Anjou a runner up on Monday at 22/1 whose yard is in form and who comes out again quickly like OLIVERS ISLAND a Course and Distance winner who won this in 2020 off a mark of 78 and who we noted as an unlucky faller last time after being runner up on penultimate run. Olivers Island would have been selected today but for that very recent run and there are a couple probably fresher who just get the nod.
At bigger odds might be worth keeping an eye on a couple from Micky Hammonds yard who are most likely running "for connections to have a nice day out" but who could outrun big odds, they are Great Raffles and Late Date.
In terms of financial investment I'm most keen on the top end of the market because of a longer rest since its last run for FAME AND HOPE, I think that rest will give it the edge over Derrick D'Anjou and Olivers Island. It ran well at Hexham last time up and was runner up in this race last year and on another line through Olivers Island who won that day gets a whopping 21lbs pull at the weights!!!!
I also think that Trimmers Lane at a bigger price for the already mentioned Mick Hammond who popped up off a similar preparation at 25/1 at Wetherby last season can outrun those odds and possibly get us off to a cracking start to 2022.
