Aintree 2.15

Aintree 2.15 - Grand Sefton (National Course) - Handicap Chase - Class 2 - 2 miles 5 furlongs - Soft

Course experience is key here, it's one Circuit of the National Fences on Soft Going and with many making seasonal debut we have to take fitness of many on trust and look for past evidence that they can win or run well fresh.

I'll have an each way saver on CAT TIGER. It looks well placed here and I think the fact that with a win it can be aimed at Races other than the big hunter Chase races is a significant factor. My, and many other peoples thoughts on the Jockey are less relevant than they were a few years ago, the guy can ride, he's not the best but he puts his money into developing horses and if PFN trusts him to ride some of them, who are we to quibble?

Hogans Height won this in 2019 but looks very much out of form, Mac Tottie for the Bowens lookedprogressive last year has had a run but remains to be seen how it handles these fences.

I really like, and having chatted to Sean at length about the horse yesterday, know he does too, SPYGLASS HILL. It has the benefit of being race fit. Is surely one that the mercurial Henry De Bromhead has a fancy for as a National horse in time and it will be very disappointing if he doesn't take to these fences and run a big race here.

Of the home contingent, the proven form here and ability to get round and finish on every occasion so far (let's hope that hasn't cursed it) means that SIR JACK YEATES has to be considered at a nice each way price. Off for 211 days but ample past season evidence it goes well fresh I can't imagine they'd come here for just a spin round, they'll have the horse plenty fit enough. Runner up off the same mark as today last season on seasonal debut and clearly thrives at Aintree.
