Brighton 4.55

Brighton 4.55 11 Ronni Layne @ 8/1 / 10 Queen Beatrice @ 11/1 (1/2 point e/w each Lad/Coral/Skybet - odds to 4th)

The 4.55 is a low grade 3 year old Handicap over 1 mile. There are 14 runners and as by far the biggest field of the day

it means that Ladbrokes; Coral and Skybet offer guaranteed enhanced odds to 4th place; something we wish to take advantage of.

The first horse to consider is our very own SP2A Racing Club horse Captain Sedgwick, a improving horse who on for us at
Ffos Llas a while back off a mark of 45, which was over lenient based on excellent gallop form at home, it then was runner
up at Salisbury off a mark of 51, and I can fully understand why it is 10/3 here. I would be pleasantly surprised though if she
won today. Why?; no experience of soft Going and by tea time it could be heavy; no Course experience and something that
won't be widely known, she has a temperature and was slightly off colour 3-4 weeks ago, like a few at the Yard and all that

means I don't think 10/3 is great value. Of course I'll want her to win, but I can't tip her with any degree of confidence.

There are a couple that catch my eye off nicer handicap marks. RONNI LAYNE has proven it can handle mud; the Trainer
does well with a small string and had a winner in the past 2 weeks; excellent young jockey booked and the drop in trip in
these conditions will help. QUEEN BEATRICE has also run OK in soft, was well backed last time but that was likely more

the De Souza impact; David Egan is an excellent jockey booking and another who may have found the ideal trip.

With the odds to 4th place here and the prices around 8/1 and 12/1 (BOG them) they look better value than Captain S.
