Kelso 2.30

Kelso 2.30 Class 4 Handicap Chase - 2 miles 7 1/2 furlongs 10 run - soft.

The 2 market leaders are Mymilan and Warendorf. The latter has yet to conclusively prove stamina and the very short price favourite Mymilan who won a 2 mile race recently seems to be being mullered in the betting as it comes from a 3 mile P2P background and a family with proven stamina. However a close look at P2P form shows a record of PP3FP which hardly inspires confidence, certainly not enough to have it available at 2/1 or lower. It or Warendorf may well win but I want to take them on.

A few might like better Going but 3 at or near the bottom of the market caught my eye. Purcells Bridge has gone 3 years since a win and although from a good yard would take a leap of faith to have anything on that one but KINGS ECLIPSE and LOWANBEHOLD are more interesting.

The tip is KINGS ECLIPSE who won a Class 2 Chase at Carlisle on Heavy Going over 3 miles plus just over 12 months ago. The horse is now back to a winning mark and although it has had some sketchy jumping issues on past few runs, the tacky Going and trip here should suit and I think as it is now fit and getting optimum conditions is overpriced.

The Tracker is LOWANBEHOLD who is a Course winner with proven stamina at 3 to 4 miles. They may go a bit too quick early on for this old boy, 13 now, but provided he does not get detatched and disinterested could stay on past beaten horses for a place and definitely one to track on for one of those lung bursting Borders (Hexham / Kelso / Ayr / Sedgefield / Newcastle) long distance Chases in the next 6-8 weeks or so.

TIP - Kings Eclipse - 1 point each way TRACKER - Lowanbehold - 1/2 point each way.
