Lingfield 2.40

Lingfield 2.40 6 Penny Poet / 4 Miskin - 1 point each way both.

A trip just short of 12 furlongs and the Going will be a factor, especially if the forecast Thunderstorm arrives, if it doesn't we still have enough "soft" in the Going to feel comfortable with the Going analysis.  I narrowed this down to 5 horses and would be surprised if the winner and placed horses are not all here. It is hard to leave out Guards Chapel given his connections but with Moore you never quite know whether they are going to be running or pulled and back in trip would need a deluge I think to really make stamina pay. All About The Pace is on a nice mark based on run last week but any more rain would be a problem on known form. I think Jackblack is worthy favourite but at 13/8 under a penalty in Class 6, one I want to take on.

PENNY POET ran well at Brighton last time, runner up on Good to Soft, likes undulations and this is a track where that left hand turn in to the straight can unbalance many horses. I think it will strip a bit fitter for that run and at 6/1 no excuses at trip on Going or this Course. Of the slightly longer shots MISKIN jumped off the page a bit; has soft ground form; more rain would help a bit; ran well to 12 furlong mark on Heavy Going on come-back and will come on for that and I just feel will run prominently and make something come to pass it an with stamina on side more likely at a bigger price than Guards Chapel of the proven stayers.
