Uttoxeter 1.50 musings (no Tips)

The 1.50 is a novice Handicap Chase over 2 miles and 6 furlongs and is flagged up by Ian as a race to keep a close eye on going forwards.

Ian's comments

"It's impossible for me to have much of a bet on this as every horse makes seasonal debut, but it's equally impossible to ignore it as I think as many as a dozen of these could win races in the next 6-7 months, so it may be a rich seam of future solid form.

The obvious ones to take out of this will be Some Detail, Eden Du Houx, Killer Clown, Morning vicar, Young Bill and Canelo.

Of them if I had to guess at a winner today, and it would be a guess!!!!!...it would be Canelo @ 10/1, an ex P2P horse, who most are, given time and already a winner, and has particularly good form fresh. I've never hidden the fact that after PFN, Alan King is my favourite NH Trainer so I'll be keeping a particular eye, though no financial investment in Canelo.

If I do have a shrapnel bet (quid each way at most) I think there may be early season value in Terrierman @ 25/1, Skeltons 2nd string with Bridget Andrews up, who has won a 3 mile P2P on soft, and Maypole Class @ 20/1 for Jonjo who was runner up in a P2P that threw up some nice collateral form especially a 135 rated Hurdler with Hobbs, and who has placed before on seasonal debut. I don't think either has the scope of the ones noted above, but may just be more forward and able to outrun Odds. Several Bookies go to 5th place and rest to 4th.

It'll be a fascinating race to watch and track.
