In the 4.00 at Brighton SOARING SPIRITS is one of the few with any sort of soft ground winning form. You have to go a way back to find it but it is there and also on this Course, and the combinations of soft and Course form means the price looks very generous. The step back up from 7 furlongs to a mile should not be an excuse, has won over a mile and the return of blinkers should be seen as a positive too. Most of the opposition are more suited to shorter trips, firmer Going and in many cases are better AW exponents.

In the 4.35 MISS INGA SOCK is very well handicapped and the price may reflect more the reported Good to Firm, where its form is poor. If you study closely the Course and Distance and soft ground form, would seem to be very over-priced.

I'm told that it rained heavily for about 14 hours from midday on Saturday to the north and west of the track and that there was flooding in the area in places, so hard to reconcile that with Good to Firm, although the Sussex Downs can have strange weather patterns.

I will take the chance, on a day with so many moderate handicaps and dozens of horses we have tipped and tracked through the season, but no confidence in this quality of which one will pop up; that the Going query at Brighton will fall our way.
