Catterick 12.57

ROBIN T - Catterick 12.57 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 3 miles 1 and 1/2 furlongs - Soft (plenty of rain about overnight and this morning)

I think the Going will be heavier than forecast.

The one they all have to beat let's be honest is OLIVER ISLAND a facile winner without a penalty, so have a 1 point win saver to cover your each way punts.

Cairnshill will struggle off top weight here, Georgian Firebird has been runner up over Course and Distance off a mark of 83, but brian Hughes jumps ship and whilst a danger that is a big asset lost,Little Saint has been spotted staying on over 2 and a half and just shy of 3 miles, one to keep an eye on though on better ground on which best runs seem to be. Another with a good form chance but better suited by better Going is Nothing Man, Taboo is a moderate ex Irish horse who was runner up last time, an each way chance but looking back at the Irish form in heavy doesn't inspire confidence and Thirsty Farmer despite some promise is another upped in trip and not yet proven in the mud.

That leaves me with BORDER VICTOR who was runner up off a mark of 88 over 2 and a half miles last time out, should benefit from that run and was a runner up over this course and distance on heavy Going off a mark of 92 last February, so a mark of 88 less a 3 lbs Claim suggests it has every chance of a place finish at least. FAME AND HOPE gets Brian Hughes assistance ah=gain, unexposed type who gets cheekpieces too just to take the fizz out of the horse and with a 3 mile P2P background is very interesting off a mark of 85.

TIP - OLIVERS ISLAND - win / Trackers - Border Victor + Fame And Hope.
