Doncaster 3.45

Doncaster 3.45 - Class 2 Handicap - 1 mile 2 furlongs - 14 run - Good to Soft

A tricky handicap and whilst the top 3 in the market Caradoc, Derevo and Starcat all have obvious chances, I'm not wholly convinced any of them are great value or in the kind of form that warrants the price and others at much bigger odds are of interest.

Rise Hall is worth a look at a better price but on the balance of form I think may be better in slightly calmer waters.

SKY DEFENDER has been a bit unlucky this season, runner up in big field Class 2 Handicaps after winning at Epsom. With a 7lbs Claimer up today the handicap marks looks fine and the type of horse that seems to peak for better races like this and we know the Johnson philosophy of racing them to keep them fit so will have every chance.

At bigger odds, it may just be the right time to see a revival from PIVOINE a Course and Distance winner who seems to like Doncaster, and indeed Yorkshire with some good York form too. Clearly likes a long straight to work on, ans with Andrew Balding having his horses in fine form right now, a very lenient handicap mark offer hope of a much better run.
