Newbury 5.25

ROBIN - Newbury 5.25 - Handicap - Class 5 - 1 mile 3 furlongs - 12 run - Going Good

I share similar thoughts about this race to my Northern colleague in many ways.

At the top of the market it's quite tight prices wise between a cluster of horses. Eton Blue is in form and solid off a mark of 72, Militry Decoration (that's how they seem to spell it) has gone first and second on last 2 runs off 65 nd 69 and is upped in trip on firmer Going and Sun Festival is unexposed on turf, progressive on the AW but I'm not convinced about this trip.

CHARLIE ARTHUR looks too strong and solid to completely ignore so I'll have a saver bet and win or each way can be your choice on this depending on Odds available when you stake. Anything around 5/1 or better I'd go e/w.  The Bay Warrior is another with some solid AW form and rates a danger and Lexington Knight lurks as a disappointing non achiever but from the Hannon yard anything can fire at any time .

The one that really jumps out at me is Jonathan Portmans BROAD APPEAL at very nice e/w Odds.  Its a bit of a Windsor specialist with wins off marks of 68 and 70 and may be being primed for something there. However off a mark of 66 with the trip and Going ideal and enough form away from Windsor to suggest he can win elsewhere I certainly think (a) he's worth an investment tonight but also (b) he should definitely be tracked and especially when he goes back just down the road to Windsor on a Monday night at some point. He'll pay his way I'm sure.
