Newcastle 2.10

Newcastle 2.10 Class 3 HC - 2 miles 7 furlongs 91 yards - Going Soft

A very competitive race for a Tuesday and a nice mixture of progressive and established Chasers on proper winter Ground.

Those with scope to progress considerably include Glittering Love who ran up an impressive sequence of 1111 last season before falling on reappearance when looking to be cantering in to contention. A clear round would surely see the horse very close and a WIN SAVER is probably the best course of action.

Hill Sixteen from the Sue Smith yard is probably going to be ridden quite aggressively by Danny Cook as although progressing nicely and a nice winner over shorter last time, this former 3 mile P2P winner can run in snatches. A horse definitely to follow, I don't think it's quite as good as Glittering Love yet but one to track forwards. Fortified Bay is another last time out winner (25/1) but looks more exposed and both wins have come off mark of 120 and a mark of 125 here and back left handed might just catch it out.

CAPARD KING has been rejuvenated by Sandy Thompson, some may argue that any horse that leaves Jonjo can be improved as the great Irishman divides opinion in terms of how successful a Trainer he actually is when considering the resources at his disposal, but Thompson is building a great reputation with horses of this type. A recent winner who ran well last time in a hotter race. Has some collateral form with Glittering love, beaten 5 lengths by it at Ayr last March getting 4lbs and now gets an extra pound. Capard King is running better now than then and if the favourite has any mental blemish from the fall the horses would be very closely matched.

The other one very well handicapped who could outrun Odds is old BORIC who is a Course winner and running better than form figures may initially suggest and still capable in races of this type.

TIP - CAPARD KING / TRACKER - Boric @ 16/1 (win saver Glittering Love) - a nice Tricast Perm too.
