Perth 8.10

Perth 8.10 Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 3 miles - Good to Soft

Back on New Years Day 2020 we picked a 14/1 winner of a run of the mill race called Mamoo. In to my notebook that day went the runner up who caught my eye running over this sort of trip and looked one to follow called ARDGLASS STAR form the Rose Dobbin yard.

I've tracked the horse since and it has clearly had physical problems and pulled up mostly with breathing issues and a "wind operation" didn't initially seem to have worked. However, the horse ran significantly better last time and a little bit of detective work and some contacts have confirmed that the Yard has had a number of horses with respiratory problems and they believe that they have now identified the issue and those impacted are showing signs of the form the Yard know they are capable of.

I recall an issue some years ago when the Emma Lavelle yard had a similar and unfathomable spell and it was eventually found to be spores off a field of oil seed rape that a farmer had planted somewhere upwind of the Yard at the time and it has affected some of the horses respitory systems.

ARGLASS STAR comes here off a mark of 80, a few pounds below the mark of that run back at the beginning of 2020 and with a belief that the horse has scope to run to that mark now in better physical shape looks very well handicapped and on the basis of the improved run last time warrants a Tracker bet.
