Taunton 4.12

ROBIN - Taunton 4.12 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 4 - 3 miles - 14 run - Good to Soft

A competitive Handicap Hurdle where there may be some each way value on what looks like an otherwise trappy Card where the market leaders should dominate.

At the head of this market we have Black Centaur a 7 race maiden, Hot Ryan who has not set foot on a racecourse for 511 days, Drumlynn who has been away even longer, a total of 688 days and Miss Honey Ryder who is at least fit and has shown some promise but not proven at the trip.

Gang Warfare and Master tradesman are the types who can "pop up" and place at big odds once in a while but who are consistently inconsistent, just a case of finding the "going days" so I ignore them at the peril of today being one such day.

The pair that most interest me as being good market value and in with a solid and logical form chance are KENDELU who won off marks of 88 - 94 - 99 in the Autumn, the trip is OK, the drying ground a benefit, will be sharp enough and off a mark of 103 with a decent 7lbs Claimer is seemingly well handicapped here and has the big asset of being a proven winner when the opportunity arises.

Crown Hill is best on Good Going, has every chance and rates probably the biggest danger at a half decent price and I would not put you off a small stake but I prefer KENDELU.

At bigger odds if you definitely want a shrapnel bet then MALACHYS GIRL is very over-priced on some collateral Isish P2P form where it has beaten and been competitive with horses now running over here and doing well off marks around 115, the mark here indicates IF running to that level, which admittedly it hasn't yet done, it could have around a stone in hand of the UK handicapper. It's one of those to keep a close eye on!
