Ascot 1.55

Ascot 1.55 - Sprint Stakes - G1 - 6 Furlongs - Soft

The head of the market is dominated by Dream of Dreams and One Master.

Dream of Dreams has matured this season, winning both Class 1 races and the latter on soft at Haydock. It can't be ignored though that despite some good Course form the horse flopped in this race last season on Heavy Going in a big field.

Runner up last season to Donjuan Triumphant was ONE MASTER and that one has had a busy but successful season and it's proven ability over an extended 7 furlongs stands it in good stead here. I see it as something of an each way banker to beat the favourite or place at least.

I'd like to fly a pair of kites though at much bigger odds in the hope of repeating the success Ian had in the race last year using his logic of proven soft/heavy going form, over further, with the soft to heavy sticky Going nullifying the speedsters who may just end up treading water (or should that be eating mud) in the closing 100 yards.

HAPPY POWER has won it's last 3 races off marks of 109-110-111 and runs off a mark of 115. It has won at 6 furlongs and Andrew Balding and James Doyle will know exactly what's required. I think Doyle will not try to restrain the horse but won't be too concerned when it gets outpaced early, will sit quietly and hope to be within range when the assured stamina comes in to play late in the race.

ONASSIS is a strong travelling 3 year old and will admittedly need them to go hard and fast from the Stalls. The running style of the horse who has winning 7 furlong and 1 mile form indicates there is a real engine there and enough pace to remain in contention. As a 3 year old and despite a tough enough season, could yet be some untapped potential and Hayley Turner is such an excellent horsewoman as to know exactly what's required.

TIP - One Master / Trackers - Happy Power + Onassis
