Chepstow 1.05

Chepstow 1.05, a 17 runner Class 4 almost 3 mile Handicap Chase, the kind of opportunity we have had very rarely in recent months. Course form is a factor here, it is likely to be softer than advertised with some rain about and this Course takes some jumping and proven stamina. There is a lot of "Good" and "Good to Soft" in the Form Reading and I am inclined more to proper "winter horses" who relish a real test. BEARS RAILS is the bi enigma of the race, one of those crusty old horses that you know is going to "pop up" at big odds again one day. Poor recently, the handicap mark is falling accordingly but it has been 3 seasons since a decent run here and one for a Tricast Perm but no more, take it on the chin and wince if it wins. Moving In Style and The Ogle Gogle Man have obvious form chances, as does Definitely Vinnie and Abbeygrey and Barbrook Star are dangers but I kept coming back to a pair who will appreciate any deterioration in conditions, have proven stamina over further and who look primed to run big races at nice prices.

GAMAIN comes from the in-form Jane Williams Yard, rain will definitely be welcomed; is bang on win mark of 107, gets able 7lbs Claim assistance and is fresh and fit with every box ticked. HELUVAGOOD is similarly suited by conditions, a Hurdle runner up here in soft going and a horse who could still have some untapped potential over the bigger obstacles. I am going against the market a little but worth a punt in a cracking race.
