Chepstow 2.45

The Advisor - Chepstow 2.45 Handicap - Class 6 - 6 furlongs - 12 run - Good to Soft (drying)

A competitive little race with a compressed market at the top rnd with 3-4 strongly backed and therefore value for the remainder.

Jackmeister Rudi who has gone 3-2-1- and who is up 3 lbs makes Course debut and like fellow 3 year old Bondi Girl for mick Appleby also on Course debut are clearly progressive 3 year olds who may not yet have found a ceiling, however this is a unique track and easy for an inexperienced horse to get unbalanced so at the prices I want to take them on.

The most obvious winner would be ICONIC KNIGHT and I prefer this over Hope Cove at the top end of the market as Hope Probe has a penalty and has looked workmanlike but not really one I fear in this race. ICONIC KNIGHT has Course and Distance winning form, Stall 12 will allow it to run the Stands rail if it wishes, its won too at 7 furlongs and my only niggle would be if it was too soft.

Diva Dancer could outrun its odds at the other end of the market but the pair who jump off the page as being really good early market value are DIAMOND COTTAGE and SOLDIERS SON.

SOLDIERS SON for Grace Harris had a troubled run last time and that run can be marked up a little, its on a nice mark, Stall 3 may not be ideal but is not a deal-breaker for me, it's got decent Course form is is happy on most ground conditions. DIAMOND COTTAGE for Malcolm Saunders is drawn next to it in Stall 4, it found 7 furlongs too far it seems last time so the step back in trip is sensible, it'll need a true run race though but i can see enough pace to suggest that it could arrive late and it's certainly on a nice mark with no real excuses today.

TIP - Iconic Knight / shrapnel - Soldiers Son + Diamond Cottage
