I think we saw enough yesterday to indicate that the going is actually "Good" at Haydock and with little if any rain expected we are as sure as we can be about conditions unless they have left the taps on all night!

 

I am most interested in 4 in here and drawn off something spotted by our Northern expert which has drawn me to one in particular. 

 

JUST HUBERT was third in this race last year off a mark of 92, it went on to win a couple of good races in the UK later in the season and was given a quiet reappearance run a few weeks ago. He's undeniably well handicapped on that form off a mark of 92 here and impossible to leave out.

 

GOLDEN FLAME is a Course and Distance winner over shorter but looks ready for a step up to 2 miles. With Joe Fanning riding for the Johnstons it's pretty nailed on they will seek to set some challenging fractions and keep gradually increasing the pace and as we know with horses from this yard, once in front, they can be incredibly difficult to pass. 

 

That may set the race up for JUST HUBERT and also for Goobinator for Donald Mccain. This Course and Distance winner makes seasonal reappearance and it'll love any pace to attack BUT I just wonder if it may need this run and be aiming at bigger prizes later on.

 

The most intriguing one is DARK JEDI. It's a logical move up to 2 miles for this 12-14 furlong expert but what's most interesting is that David Allen comes here to ride for Tim Easterby instead of York where the Yard have a hatful of good prospects running. He's definitely still the "go to" jockey for Tim Easterby and suggests they think DARK JEDI can take a hand here at very generous Odds.
