Haydock Park 2.05

Haydock 2.05 Handicap - Class 2 - 1 mile - 10 run - Good to Soft (basically dry)

A tricky and tight Haydock Handicap where I favour the pair lowest drawn as both being excellent each way value off declining marks.

The danger could be Milltown Star for the Channon yard a horse who likes to get it's toe in, so if as usual here the Going is a lot softer than forecast and times are abnormally slow, one to have a small side stake on before the race.

However CARDSHARP drawn in Stall 1 for Johnson/Fanning could well ping out and grab the rail and set the fractions. A typical Johnson handicapper, runs regularly to stay fit, plenty of bad runs in terms of position to get marks down and the ability to pop up at a nice price when the draw, Going and handicap mark allow it to. Very interesting here off a mark below 100, off 97 to be precise.

The same applies to Ian Williams and his runner here MUSTARRID the horse has twice won off a mark of 84 and then found victories and places hard to come by off anythong in the high 80's and over 90. Today it runs off a mark of 86, with a talented 7lbs claimer up and whatever happens, one to track VERY closely as that mark comes down if it isn't a winner today. I'll be disappointed if both of this pair aren't placed but if that's the case will follow both very closely...
