Monday 17th June

Carlisle 3.30 A Class 5 race that is a Mile (although officially 7 furlongs 190 yards and a few feet). A field of mainly exposed types that we have analysed and tipped collectively many times before and it has all the feel of "a win in turn" race. On the basis that both Chinese Spirit and Edgar Allen Poe have recently had that turn or come close to it, I don't see either as the type to defy a penalty, more a case of finding one that has dropped to a mark it can and will win off.

BEVERLEY BULLET and MAKE ME look the most likely but taking odds of 5/1 or less in this type of race rarely ends well. I will have a £1 reverse forecast on those pair to cover my singles bets if it wins and include in a fun Tricast Perm. My idea of an outsider to have a few bob on is SHOWBOATING who has Course and Distance form, had a run and should strip fit here, won over Course and Distance off 78 in 2017 and although now 11 has won twice since on sand at Southwell off marks of 66 and 72, so the turf mark here of 69 looks appealing.

The tip though is I'M DAPPER TOO who is also a winner over Course and at the Distance, likes soft Going, on a very nice mark and will carry my main bet for the day.
