I want to see how the Going and Draw pans out today on the straight Course here as it can be a big asset
to have that knowledge for tomorrow, but the marathon trip of 2 miles and 2 furlongs in the 4.05 throws up some very interesting
form angles. I want to take on Golden Birthday and Look My Way at the head of the market, they may win but I neither think
that the 11/4 and 10/2 are any value, and neither really have Flat form at this trip, they are competent hurdlers and on decent
marks IF you try to transfer it over but no value for me. Injam and Cape Cova are of longer term interest and may need the run;
Coeur De Lion will be a big danger, but strictly on Flat form has a whopping 15lbs ore off a mark of 88 than when winning over
2 miles at Nottingham off a mark of 73. I was first draw to JUKEBOX JIVE and I think a hike to 97 on perfect Going for a horse
that has won after a break is a decent price. However, when you look at the collateral form with the main pick CHAMPAGNE
CHAMP; there is a quite staggering turnaround. Last season JJ beat CC by 10 lengths but CC gets a whopping 31lbs pull
for that race and if you apply the old "a lb a length" adage, that is massively significant. CHAMPAGNE CHAMP is no world
beater, but it runs to this mark regularly and consistently and crucially is FIT from AW and the Going and Trip are ideal.
Win or not, I doubt I will find a better handicapped horse all summer so worth a punt for sure.
