Pontefract 4.20

Pontefract 4.20 Class 4 - 1 mile 6 yards - 15 run (Going Good)

A competitive field of 16 but on Good Going a low draw can be an advantage and a few off nice marks are drawn very high. I can't resist one of them who I think is a ridiculous price, nor the obvious one drawn in stall 1 who I think is also over-priced.

GARDEN OASIS is on a winning mark, a switch to blinkers proved an instant hit earlier in the season but the form in them has declined. That may be due to an increased handicap mark, but could well be as with many horses that familiarity means the impact wears off. It's intriguing therefore that they switch to cheek-pieces here and I'm prepared to follow the hunch that the horse can ping the start, run prominently and grab the rail and stay there.

Of those drawn higher, old favourite Alfred Richardson is a big danger on the form book and I wouldn't put anyone off a small nibble but next to it is Stall 11 is one that jumped off the page at me a little. IRV is back to the preferred trip of 1 mile. It drops in Grade too and is also back to a mark it has won off. The big price reflects recent runs, but this is I think it's best chance of a place at least in a fair while and I'm happy to back the hunch that the analysis supports.

TRACKER - Garden Oasis + Irv - both 1/2 point each way
