Sandown 2.25 1 GM Hopkins @ 9/1 (PP go 12/1) / 2 Master Of The World @ 16/1 - B365 odds to 4th / Sky to 5thA competitive one mile Class 2 handicap and many of these are regulars in the big meetings
mile handicaps. The one key factor for us here though is "the bend"; this is not a straight mile and some are far
better than others at negotiating a bend, so we want to look for something with that experience in its locker.
I looked long at George William "a talking horse" if ever there was one, he may win this but is he a bona fide
Class 2 horse and can he win at this track, I am minded to say "no" on both counts. Greenside is another with
lots of support but at 4/1 is he any value?, and can he step up again in Class and handicap mark, again the
answer I came up with was a negative. Manson; Muntazah; Rusumaat all followed the same thought process.
I do think Pactolus can run them ragged from stall one and place at nice odds but I kept coming back to two;
and when I called Ian to discuss the race, I am sure he had a wry smile as these are two all time SP2A faves.
GM HOPKINS and MASTER OF THE WORLD, both could have one last big day in the sun here; a formidable
pair of one mile handicappers who have run and won some massive races over the past 4-5 years, both are
well handicapped here despite being top of the weights and both look to be running in to form, neither are at
their peak any more, but off these marks and round a bend and with the experience they have they can do some
major damage in this company, something may progress but in the context of today, experience counts!
