There are a host of competitive, if lower grade races today, and it is the kind of racing day when
you could easily pick 5-6 horses, but we will again look for the value where we think we have
found it, as often in these Class 5-6 races, there are dark horses, lurking ready to strike.
The opener at Kempton is a case in point THANE OF CAWDOR is a Course and Distance
specialist, the secret is his handicap mark, he is prolific at a mark up to 60, once he goes
to 61 or higher, abstain. He runs in a 0-60 today off a mark of 60, they turn to a bit of headgear
and the booking of George Baker catches the eye as his style of riding is ideally suited to
the horse, a wide draw is no handicap either as watching his better runs here, they are inevitably
when delivered with a strong late run wide of the pack - one for your notebooks over the
coming weeks, whatever happens today but we think going off top weight in a 0-60 is ideal.
