Thursday 14th March

A lot to take in yesterday, not the least a win for LANGER DAN, not tipped on the day due to Going concerns but foremost in our early Cheltenham Trackers and Ante pOst thoughts. Shanbally Kid and Franciscan Rock at big advised prices and very decent SP prices ran excellent races to finish in the first 5, with Black Bamboo finishing 6th. In the other tip race a very good run from Liberty Hunter to finish runner up with Path D'Oroux also placed and once again we just missed a Skelton winner on Going concerns.

The other races threw up an excellent 66/1 runner up effort from Jimmy Du Seuil in the opener, a couple of favorites winning and a surprise winner of the big race but one we'd very much flagged up in the first Cheltenham Tracker email from Ireland in the New Year in the shape of Captain Guinness. We hadn't really dabbled in Ante Post stuff since a chastening experience back in 2014, may be the message is that we need to have more courage and confidence in our ability a decade later to identify the right types.

The 3rd of the Ante Post picks out of 4 runs today and that's HITMAN in the ULTIMA Chase at 2.10. With 3 big fields handicaps however on the day, that is not a featured race this year but in the list of suggested "other race" selections at the bottom of the page.

With the analysis and write ups for potentially 69 horses in 3 races, the analysis today focuses a bit more on the selections. Top 6 rated and a few very big priced £1 e/w fun flutters for those who like them.

We are on THE NEW COURSE today, far more galloping in nature and they predict "soft"...but the Going Stick reading 4.0 suggests possibly deeper ground.
