Thursday 28th March

It's been a quiet week in terms of tipping opportunity and today is no exception. There is NH at Wetherby and Fontwell (inspection pending) and AW at Southwell; with Clonmel to become the latest Irish Meeting to be abandoned.

We'll have a tip race at Wetherby and a "Pointer".

There are some cracking NH Cards on Saturday and Sunday and a glut of 9 Easter Monday Bank Holiday Fixtures including flat Turf, so a busy weekend ahead. Good FRiday as many will recall used to be a Non - Racing Day, I prefer that to be honest, not frankly for any Religious reasons, but simply it was a nice days break before a very busy time with Easter Meetings, Ayr and Aintree, the start of the Flat and close of the NH and of course Evening Racing. The advent of the AW Championships changed that so tomorrow we have Fixtures at Newcastle (AW Championships) ; Lingfield and Chelmsford.

Sadly ,in my opinion;  the whole ethos of the AW Championship is FLAWED. The increased prize money has simply ensured that a cabal of Turf Flat horses have been trained to come out a few weeks earlier in Spring, stay in action a little longer in the Autumn and therefore qualify for these Championships and still spend most of the winter, tucked up in their cosy Stalls and Stables whilst THE REAL AW horses are trudging through snow, ice, rain and wind for utterly derisory prize money at places like Southwell, Wolverhampton, Chelmsford, Newcastle, Kempton and lingfield, in front of one bookie and his frozen dog and a handful of people who aren't Owners, Trainers, Jockeys or Officials or TV people looking for any Tom , Dick or Harriet to talk to.....

Somewhat reluctantly therefore we will be tipping tomorrow but probably more likely at Lingfield with some bona fide Class5 and 6 types than at Newcastle.
