Worcester 1.30 - Class 5 - Handicap Chase - 2 miles 7 furlongs - Going Good - 16 run The top of the market is dominated by Dr Newlands seemingly well handicapped KING GOLAN who could almost walk to the track from the nearby Claines yard. At the price I really fear it but unless you fancy a small win saver one to take on. I'm not conv...Read More
Queen Alexandra Stakes - 2 miles 5 1/2 furlongs - Class 2 - 17 run The longest race on the Flat calendar in the UK and a real onus on proven stamina and ability to handle the ground. There are a few progressive types in here and a few who on the form book have "no chance" other than a chance for Owners to doff their finery and...Read More
Placespotter - Royal Ascot 5.35 Golden Gates Handicap - Class 2 - 1 mile 2 furlongs - 16 run (3 year olds) The heavy Going will favour a few but by no means all and interesting too to look at the pedigree lines here to try to find some proven stamina and soft ground profiles. Mark Johnson's KING FRANKEL is the one they all have to beat bu...Read More
Royal Ascot 5.35 Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes - Class 2 - 1 mile 4 furlongs - Good to Firm (possible Heavy Rain) - 19 run We have to assume that the word "soft" will be in the Going description by this time and that throws a different context on the race. At the head of the market the top 2 were most impressive last time but it's both hard to...Read More
6.10 Buckingham Palace Stakes - Handicap Class 2 - 7 Furlongs - Good to Firm An intriguing contest made more challenging by rain and draw considerations but I always think the starting point is to consider every horse on it's merits before you get blinkered by Draw or Going. I don't think the rain will have a massive impact, other than a ...Read More
After 5 days at Royal Ascot we return to a level of normality and there will be plenty of value races to attack in the coming days with recent rains, and more due in the next week, ensuring genuinely Good ground and hopefully some decent field sizes and races to attack. Other than the first day the big field straight races weren't kind to us r...Read More
The rain has turned the Ground to Heavy for the final 2 days of Racing at the 2021 Royal Ascot Meeting, that means a number of non-runners and a 4th and a 6th in a race reduced to 14 runners from 19 yesterday will have impacted on returns from some Bookies. David will focus on The Wokingham today and we've explored some heavy ground form to de...Read More
A very poor outcome yesterday, undone by a Draw bias that turned on its head from the final few races the day before, more due possibly to pace angles than the track. The one drawn high was too fizzy early and although a couple drawn low were amongst the best on that side, in reality their fate was sealed at the 3 furlong pole. The massive unk...Read More
Three of David's four selections placed in the first 7 home in The Royal Hunt cup yesterday, no mean feat in a 30 runner race here; so really depends on which Bookies you used as to how the race panned out for you, everyone should have been of Lafayette, most hopefully on Grove Ferry and a few on Brunch. Not for the first time in this race we ...Read More
It's always nice to start a big Festival Meeting with a winner so to see OXTED romp home at 4/1 (advised and widely available early at 9/1) was a welcome start. I suppose you could gripe it was a Tracker and not a tip and the same could be said of ARECIBO who flew home from near last to runner up who was the "shrapnel" horse advised at 33/1 and ret...Read More
