There is some cracking action today, especially at Newmarket (July Course) and at York (always our No 1 favourite Race Track in the UK). There is steady rain forecast for Newmarket, heavier early rain but drying up at York. Both report "Good" Going, both drain well, so we are looking at form on genuinely Good Ground with a bit of cut, possibly Good to Soft. The only horses who may not appreciate conditions are the out and out "hoof rattlers" who need Good to Firm. Some excellent 2yo an... [Read More]

Regal Mirage ran well enough for a 25/1 poke yesterday finishing just outside the places to believe that it's a horse that's returning to form off a mark it can do some damage from and certainly one to Track onwards. As anticipated the very consistent Michele Strogoff nicked a bit of (extended) place money to those Bookies who paid odds to 4th place. Some decent Cards in terms of competitive Racing today but it's moderate fare and with some cracking Racing tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, we ... A nice win for Mister Universum at Uttoxeter yesterday, shame we didn't formally tip it, hindsight is a great thing! Explain too ran a much better race and could be one that's coming to hand off a ridiculously low Handicap mark and definitely one for the notebooks. We'll have a bet at Pontefract today in a race that has thrown up another horse that looks cracking each way value.. A frustrating day yesterday with 2 unplaced horses at Haydock and the sight of Turntable and Bollihope (in particular as both warranted an explanation in the analysis) winning and placing at Doncaster; but the tip also finishing unplaced.  The NH season kicks in with a good Card at Uttoxeter, most will fancy something in the big Chase at 3.30 but the more we analysed the more confused the picture got, one of those where you can make a case for just about every horse in the field, but p... A decent enough run from Daily Tip TINADALI at Epsom yesterday and an excellent runner up effort from COUNT OTTO for the Elite Service and David, with his suggested soft ground horse Alemaratalyoum a good third. ------------- As for The Derby, I really don't know what to say. The way I read it -:  An outstanding and enterprising ride on the winner. He set perfect fractions, just under standard time. Those closest could not really attack in the first mile as they had stamina c... [Read More]

Good MorningDerby Day at Epsom, about 5 weeks later than usual in surreal conditions, we are lucky to have Horse Racing, the Authorities are doing a great job overall, certainly compared to other major Sports, so let's rejoice in the opportunity rather than wish for what's not possible, practical or safe right now. We will focus on EPSOM with Elite covering the big Handicap at 5.35, and Daily Tips covering the Investec Handicap at 3.00 and also a sporting each way punt and thoughts fro... An enhanced place yesterday for Bumbledom 4th place at 12/1 (with significant number of bookies as per the advice) and the one we suggested was a strong favourite; The Big House; was a cosy winner of the same race. Always important to keep chipping away with small amounts of e/w value on days when we can find placed horses but not winners! Not great options again today but we'll have a bash at what is likely to be a very wet Hamilton and also have a Tracker bet on a Course specialist a... It's not great Racing today and a fair bit of rain about too but we have had a look at the Catterick Card in depth and feel we have found a decent each way bet up there that won't mind softening Ground at all. We did look fIrst at the 1.20 race - a Class 6 Handicap over 6 furlongs, the favourite looks VERY strong here and the only one with glimmers of soft Going form other than that is veteran LUCKY BEGGAR but the Trainer form is a huge negative and at about 7/1 if didn't look value bu... Good Morning A decent enough run for Star of Athena yesterday to grab a 3rd place at Chepstow. We have had a long look at both Irish Cards and also AW at Kempton, Flat at Musselburgh and the re-start of the UK jumping at Southwell today but hard to find anything of real value anywhere, a day that looks most suited to market leaders in the races with decent fields and enhanced place options. It's been a decent enough month for us after lockdown, starting with a few big priced ... A nice win for Gullane One yesterday, backed in to 7/1 from the early 12/1 and ensured a small profit on the day. Zip ran an enhanced place in to 4th too and continued a fine return for The Advisor. Good to Firm Going and showers are the order of the day at Doncaster and Musselburgh and there is also a Meeting at Leicester (not sure how the travel restrictions would have affected that in a few days time), so we will wait for the evening Meeting at Chepstow, on Good Going and a hint of ... A frustrating non-runner at Hamilton in the rain yesterday as it was one we had a quiet fancy for and the other runner in Ireland missed the break and was always playing catch up. Some moderate Racing and quite small fields in places today but there is a competitive Card at THIRSK this evening, the Going is definitely Good to Soft and with more rain about during the day, not one of those fixtures where you are "second guessing" the weather. Quite clearly we are looking for horses who are pr... [Read More]

Good Morning, We felt somewhat vindicated by no tip decision yesterday when we saw the number of non runners in many races in stifling heat. A long look at the Cards in UK today suggests a similar scenario as heavy thundery Showers are forecast at all venues but could be so spasmodic as to literally flood one part of a Course and not the other.  It makes backing anything with the confidence required impossible. The Racing tomorrow has the advantage of a cracking Card at ... Michele Strogoff gave us a good run for our money yesterday leading them well into the final 2 furlongs and then battling on bravely. 4th place was enhanced with pretty much every Bookie so nothing lost and a few pennies gained on that one. Of the ones we plan to track onwards, definitely a race in Delph Crescent who was slightly hampered and stayed on well in a race where there was lots of early pace. Very poor fare today and with weather and Going accuracy concerns at Haydock an... We were not able to keep the winning run going yesterday although David was desperately unlucky to see Summerghand just fail to get up in The Wokingham, (my how that horse deserves a big handicap win); when as we flagged up all week, the Draw bias suddenly changed late on Day 5 from high to low, although clearly it was more down to the early pace than anything on the ground. Had Summerghand got any kind of target to aim at sooner on the Stands side it would surely have won. A nice plac... [Read More]

A fine win for Scarlet Dragon yesterday at 33/1, given a fantastic ride by Hollie Doyle and I think looking back on the 4 winners of the last 4 races we've tipped in, Dark Vision, Mountain Angel and Khaloosy, the wins were all down to the tactical expertise of the jockey and the ability to optimise the opportunity. Too many people are too quick to criticise failure, looking for the easy target, and too many go completely OTT at the first sign of any success, so hats off to those Jockey's and let... [Read More]

A couple of emphatic winners yesterday both given outstanding rides. Mountain Angel and Khaloosy were both well backed as conditions deteriorated but if you got them at early prices or at SP still a nice net profit on the day and a nice profit for the week totting up, which is I think the best we could have hoped for in these exceptional times. The conundrum today is to stick (play safe and focus on what we have confidence in) or twist (look at some of the 2 or 3 year old age group rac... A decent run from Alternative Fact to place in The Silver Hunt Cup and  strong run by fellow Tracker Horse, DARK VISION backed in from 12/1 to 15/2 to win the Hunt Cup was not enough to generate a profit yesterday as the 3 tips in The Hunt Cup all paid the penalty for running too prominently and were gobbled up from the Furlong pole by horses ridden with more restraint. A lot of 3 year old Handicaps today, David takes on The Britannia Stakes at 4.10 for Elite Service, The Advisor has a... A Tracker win for Coeur De Lion at 16/1 and a nice place for Cliffs of Capri at 20/1 ensured a small net profit if you followed staking instructions to SP yesterday.  Any net profit at these Big Festivals is welcome and especially so I think in the exceptional circumstances of 2020.  There are some very heavy showers possible from mid afternoon today and that may impact on Going and Draw bias later in the week. With some all-aged races today we will focus on THE ROYAL HUNT CU... [Read More]

It was nice to have a 1-2 at Doncaster yesterday with Presidential and Muntadab and a few mails indicate that a nice forecast added to the win and place return. It had been a frustrating week prior after a stellar first week since the restart, so we can at least go in to Royal Ascot on a positive note and hope to have a good week, which in "normal times" we always seem to do, especially in the big field handicaps. As we indicated yesterday, we will have a look at a couple of 18 runner ... An excellent run from Ardhoomey yesterday who just found one to good and absolutely no excuses there. Njord was very disappointing but may have needed the run and one we will track now that it has had a run. NO ELITE today, David can't find the type of big field Handicap in the UK that he excels at, no doubt he will be back during Royal Ascot next week with some cracking tips and analysis. A lot of good races today but much of a muchness and we do want to deliver the usual 2-3 races wi... Nothing wrong with the analysis yesterday; just the decision making from it. That's a line we have used many times before, and no doubt will again. One of the negatives of explaining logic and analysis is that you can talk "all around" a horse and then when it wins, criticism comes in along lines of "why didn't you pick it" or "what's the point I only want the tips". Good time I think to explain again that we see the service not just as a Tipping / Analyst service but also to help where we ... A glimpse of a bit of normality in terms of the Fixtures today as Newbury stages a 6 Race Card (not the 10-11 race Cards we have seen so far) and Beverley open their season. It's becoming apparent that some Trainers got horses ready and fired up for the very early skirmishes and others have adopted their normal approach of quietly easing into the season and some horses will need a run. The core and long successful Yorkshire Trainers at Beverley today a good example of this possibly. We look... [Read More]

A disappointing day at Leopardstown yesterday, not a sniff off a winner or place. It wasn't a great surprise that Lady Savannah won the 4.00, we did indicated we'd looked closely at the horse but all its best form was on softer Going than advertised and for that reason it wasn't picked. The 4.30 race saw 4 horses in the places that simply hadn't been considered as competitive.  On to today and 5 meetings. We were nowhere near the winner of either chosen race yesterday but one of the great strengths we have seen from Sean since he joined us that has driven his phenomenal ROI% figures is the old SP2A mantra of each way betting at big odds that "if you can't win don't lose" and we saw again yesterday that benefit with placed runners at decent odds. Having highlighted 4-5 Bookies going odds to 5th in the first race it was probably fated that we'd have the 5th place and the 4th to boot for a smal... A tough day yesterday when we picked the wrong one of the 2 most likely to win the race and the bigger placed punts never really looked like getting involved at the business end. Nevertheless with 2 big priced SP winners and 2 big priced placed horses in the preceding week, we have made a profitable and decent start. The UK action today is at Haydock on turf, Chelmsford and Lingfield on AW and there is Irish action at Naas. We'll swerve the UK, too many Going doubts at Haydoc...
