If you took the advice of a flutter on Torbellino yesterday you will have had a nice return on the speculative selection advised and widely available early at 25/1 which returned an SP of 14/1. It was a shame that we had a non runner at Sedgefield as the other selection there was rather disappointing. A winner a day though is not a bad trend and although we'd like bigger prices for some, we are in a bit of a revolving cycle of rain and more rain, which at least looks likely to be ... Temper Trap did what was expected in winning yesterday on an otherwise disappointing day. We've had a long hard look at today's Cards and the most confidence comes in a Handicap Hurdle at Sedgefield and an AW Handicap at Kempton. [Read More]

A win for Outside The Door at Fairyhouse and places for Macari and Hakuna Babe at Yarmouth yesterday, when once again the winner's price was massively impacted by non-runners. We'll hope for more wins and places but fewer non-runners today with a couple of selected races at Leicester on heavy Going and at Huntingdon on Good Going, the irony that Jumpers are running on summer ground and Flat horses on winter ground is again a complete quirk of the vagaries of UK weather. -------- [Read More]

An excellent bit of analysis by RJ who clearly identified which of the Arc Trials was the more solid form and who found Bluestocking advised at 11/1 and available widely at that price until later in the morning when sustained support shortened it into 5/1. Back to more mundane surroundings today and we've identified 2 tip races with sufficient Tipster confidence to attack, a 16 runner Handicap at Yarmouth and a 16 runner Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse, in one of 2 Divisions of the race ... We had both Carrytheone (6th) and Arkadian Thunder (8th) noted as "eyecatchers" in the Racing post following their runs at Ascot yesterday, you can look at that one of three ways, (1) they had trouble in running but finished well, (2) they are both developing a bad habit of finding trouble in running which is becoming frustrating, (3) they lost, bottom line they didn't deliver. I'd suggest all 3 are pertinent and relevant but of the three then the final one is truly the most important!&nbsp... [Read More]

We will be taking a look at the big Meeting in France tomorrow but have a few race tips today on what is frankly a pretty quiet and moderate day by Saturday standards. We're starting to get some valuable 2 year old Sales and Auction races and we will attack a couple today with our Northern Expert focusing on the 2 year old Trophy at Redcar and Carolyn, who has not had much to target and attack of late, focussing on the 2 year old Auction Stakes at Newmarket. The big 6 furlong Sprint in... [Read More]

A couple of honourable 4th place finishes yesterday for An Cailin Cluin and Halifax at Warwick and I think the former is definitely a nice prospect who will pay her way for us in the months and years to come. A good 11/1 SP winner for Sean over at Clonmel, I know Sean has been chomping at the bit for some soft ground NH Autumn racing to get his teeth back into, after a disappointing 6 weeks or so; after a stellar spell. A tough race to fathom but clinically analysed and a nice winner to hopefull... [Read More]

It was a shame that we lost Nottingham just as we were sending the tips out yesterday morning with 2 confident tips there missing out. Tabot Ness was understandably well backed at Catterick in the conditions and a runner up effort was not bad in the circumstances, no joy in Ireland but Micheal believes both horses can be picking up some win or place money before the really heavy winter ground arrives. We're certainly going to take the opportunity today to go "jumping", an interest... There are a few decent options for us to attack today, we hope that Nottingham will pass an early Inspection, it is their Season Finals Day today which suggests an extra effort may be forthcoming to get the Fixture on. We also have some mud lovers at Catterick and a couple who Michael feels are "due" at Sligo over the Jumps. A glut of Trackers for those who like to keep an eye on them, although in the underfoot conditions on the mainland an investment is not really suggested. I've a co... Good Morning; We've waited this morning for The Advisor to get some Course info from Bath, where he had a couple of possible tips lined up, regarding the Going, and the consensus is that it will be very deep ground there in places, so we will swerve that meeting today. We do know that Somerset has had over 200% of the average September rainfall even before the rain that has fallen in the past few days. The likely options both have probable entries next week. The anticipated levels of rain failed to materialise at The Curragh yesterday and the tip race was largely dominated by the market leaders. The Meeting at Newton Abbot today is not surprisingly OFF and it is quite probable that Windsor will follow suit. There are Irish Fixtures at Down Royal (Flat) and Roscommon (Jumps) with some possibly significant rain in Northern Ireland likely to hit Down Royal and rain due also; although a lesser intensity at Roscommon. Having looked at and ... It was nice to get a big Saturday winner and the "draw bias" partially right after a few disappointing weekends recently, Liberty Lane was an emphatic winner of the Cambridgeshire at 8/1 SP, advised 12/1 and the only disappointment was that we went middle to high with the other selections and couldn't back up the win with a place or two. A non-runner and disappointment at Limerick followed.  The Meeting at Ffos Las today has been abandoned, Epsom will be run on heavy gro... [Read More]

Following the win from Donkey Years on Wednesday we've had two days completely devastated by non-runners in the few races where field size exceeded 10 runners and again yesterday we found a winner in First Officer, to follow Terries Royale on Thursday, whose initial price was blown away by the number of non runners. With the notable exception of The Cambridgeshire at Newmarket and a decent Handicap Chase at Listowel, there are very few race options with 10 or more runners and... A very short priced winner and an abandonment of Pontefract before our tip race was very frustrating yesterday. A very wild and windy and wet day in many parts today and as a result very probably lots of non runners at Haydock, Newmarket, Worcester and Listowel plus some AW action too. It's very hard to tip with any confidence on days like this with mostly small fields probably getting smaller as I write. We've ONE TIP suggestion from RJ and prefer to leave it there and look again ... A mixed day at Listowel, an excellent win for Donkey Years advised at 14/1 and returned 17/2 in a race with a few non runners including the well fancied Macgiloney, where experience told. A less successful result though in the Kerry National where The Goffer and Hurricane George, and indeed most of the field were outclassed by an excellent Handicap Chase debut run by Flooring Porter. I know our Irish guys have always rated the horse over Hurdles but both of them were also surprised at the front ... [Read More]

When a reserve, like No Way Pedro, appears at the shoulder of a tip who has led all of the way, apparently on the bridle at 25/1 and wins, you know it's just not your day. Very brave runs from Ruby's Reward and Danzini (who finished 3rd) in that race, and who perhaps didn't get the return they deserved. Poor at Beverley on the Flat and it's time to slowly start to transition away from very moderate Flat meetings and just focus on the better quality ones now as the NH season starts to ramp up.&nb... A frustrating day at Sedgefield with a non runner in the first tip race, won by the 3rd rated (Jaramillo) and where the long priced Moonlight Glory ran very well for a long way and just beaten by faster finisher on the final climb, he'll be one to keep an eye on. In the other tip race we had 2 non runners, and I'm yet to fathom whether a glut of non runners was due to the ground being too firm, or too soft. Over in Ireland a decent enough run from Plains iNdian to finish third.&nb... [Read More]

A routine and unspectacular win by Uncle Pat at Listowel yesterday and of the longer priced ones we flagged up, the new Tracker horse Well Del probably "broke cover" a bit sooner than we'd have ideally liked with a very promising 4th place and one of the small tips Coole Cottage also ran with some distinct promise in to 6th place. The Card at Leicester has been abandoned due to excessive rain in the Midlands, more to come there and over large parts of the Country, so we'll try to ... My initial reaction to The Silver Cup and The Gold Cup races at Ayr yesterday was one of complete frustration and disappointment. Mostly in the fact that we had misread the Draw bias from Friday, also in the fact that in Lethal Levi in particular was a horse we'd tipped before, who has always run well and we left off the investment list far too easily. We discussed and have to a degree avoided Big Field Sprints this summer, especially on a weekend away from the Festivals, when we have attacked t... [Read More]

A couple of placed efforts yesterday at Newbury where the downpour got into the ground and with more overnight it means we'll reluctantly give that venue a swerve today. No joy at Ayr in the sole tip race there but clearly some Good fast ground and The Bronze Cup result suggesting that middle to low may be the place to be draw wise should assist our deliberations today, but more pertinently maybe are track record times in a couple of the earlier juvenile races suggesting pace may be an equa... Some internet speed issues this morning in the Gales....so a brief initial update and analysis A nice trio of placed results yesterday in the 3 tip races, Dereham 3rd at 40/1 ; Marhaba The Champ enhanced 4th at 16/1 and Hortzador 3rd at 12/1. Of them probably hortzador was an unlucky loser, the others ran to their merits and achieved the minimum objective of each way profit. We will watch The Bronze Cup at Ayr today with interest and with a view to getting some Draw and Pace ... A nice win from the confidently tipped Sound Angela at 17/2 SP yesterday after he had been advised at 12/1, an added bit of icing on that cake with Molten Rock advised at 25/1 coming home a fairly widely enhanced place 4th at 50/1 SP. It's nice to have the option of looking at non handicaps occasionally now that we have RJ, especially when you can find the ones that do offer a place enhancement. A reasonable pair of placed runs yesterday, by Can Can Girl at Thirsk and School Days Over at Worcester respectively; and a couple who just missed out on an enhanced 4th at double figure odds by very narrow margins in 5th place with Charles St and Party Island. There is really very little to enthuse over today in largely moderate races in medium sized fields at best on the Flat and AW and also over in Ireland. We looked closely at around half a dozen races but nothing really jumps off the p... [Read More]

A couple of non runners again caused frustration yesterday but the obvious highlight was an 11/1 SP win for Dynamiste at Bath who stayed on resolutely in the closing stages having been advised at 11/2. It was a shame that we missed most of the race due to a 5 runner crawl in France, but I guess an Arc Trial is more important than a Class 6 handicap at Bath to some!.  There is some decent competitive Racing today at Thirsk and Windsor, a decent NH Card at Worcester, AW at Kempton and th... Very disappointing  outcomes in the big field handicaps at Doncaster and The Curragh yesterday and although we managed to find placed horses at Bath and Chester it hasn't been a good week after a very strong start to September.  I'll delve in those races tomorrow morning and also look at plans for the transition from Flat to Jumps in Ireland where Sean will start to focus on the Jumps and we'll ease off the big Flat Sprints which can begin to become too much of a lottery over... It was frustrating to lose a tip (Dereham) as a late non runner at Chester yesterday just as we were mailing out, we note that one has a declaration later in the week though, so one we'll keep an eye on. A pair of well fancied non runners at Ballinrobe too, but hopefully that meant you had a bit more than the suggested quid each way on Fr Gilliagansvoyage who was a runner up at a juicy 50/1 having been noted at 66/1. There is some cracking Flat action at Doncaster and Leopardstown today, sa... It's the case unfortunately that when you get the draw bias wrong in any Sprint race it's very difficult to find the winner / placed horses and for whatever reason, the usual draw bias at Carlisle yesterday when "soft" is in the Going description, was turned on its head. No excuses, we got it wrong on this occasion after a spell where more often than not we have got it spot on. No joy at Worcester with a couple of pokes from Robin, early pace did for Presenting Nelly, who went out too quick... A repeat of Monday really with a disappointing run to start from Magical Dragon at Lingfield and then a similar outcome at Newcastle, saved if you had the suggested poke on a 40/1 SP shot who claimed the enhanced 4th place (Retirement Beckons) and who as predicted may have finished a place higher but for some trouble in running. The Mile Straight at Newcastle is a potential money pit with such types and an angle we will continue to try to optimise over the winter months. Nothing conclu... [Read More]
