Friday 15th MarchPublished: 15/03/2024After a disappointing start yesterday in the first main tip race where only Emitom ran with any real credit to finish 6th at 25/1,it was great to see the confidently tipped Shakem Up' Arry storm up the hill to win at 8/1 SP having been advised at 10/1. An excellent run too from Git Maker in the final race who was beaten only by the hot near Odds on favourite, with Git Maker returning Odds of 28/1 SP and with us also seeing Where It All Began and Daily Present placed. In the other races we f... [Read More]

Thursday 14th MarchPublished: 14/03/2024A lot to take in yesterday, not the least a win for LANGER DAN, not tipped on the day due to Going concerns but foremost in our early Cheltenham Trackers and Ante pOst thoughts. Shanbally Kid and Franciscan Rock at big advised prices and very decent SP prices ran excellent races to finish in the first 5, with Black Bamboo finishing 6th. In the other tip race a very good run from Liberty Hunter to finish runner up with Path D'Oroux also placed and once again we just missed a Skelton winner on Goi... [Read More]

Wednesday 13th MarchPublished: 13/03/2024It all felt a bit flat and predictable watching from the TV at Cheltenham yesterday and that seemed to be the general vibe. Good to win The Ultima and great to see one of the underrated jockey's in David Bass get a moment in the spotlight. Terrible to see the sad fate that befell the Fergal O'Brien yard with Highland Hunter, one of the sports good guys and thoughts with them. Ose Partir also lost his life and thoughts with all connections there too. Overall day one is always the ... [Read More]

Monday 11th MarchPublished: 11/03/2024There are a couple of decent Handicap Hurdle races at Taunton on Good to Soft ground that have 15-16 runner fields that will deliver some enhanced place opportunities. We will attack both of those. We also have an outline of plans and timings for Cheltenham over the following 4 days starting tomorrow. [Read More]

Saturday 9th MarchPublished: 09/03/2024A very poor day in terms of results at face value yesterday, a couple had legitimate reasons we think for running so poorly, one PU after a jumping error and another hampered and lost momentum and also PU but not the kind of day we like in a spell where very very little seems to be clicking. Every day though is a new opportunity to kick-start some good form and the obvious highlights today are The Imperial Cup and a good Novice Handicap Final at Sandown Park. There are a few interesting ang... [Read More]

Thursday 7th MarchPublished: 07/03/2024Good Morning; There are very few realistic punting options again today. We looked long and hard at a couple of 2 mile Handicaps over the JUmps but both look very likely to be top of the market dominated and a look at the AW drew the same conclusions. No point in "guessing". We looked longest at the 5.30 at Newcastle but very strong claims for around 6 of the 11 runner field and most of them with very solid Course and Distance form, so way too tough to be confident. There are a few... [Read More]

Wednesday 6th March Published: 06/03/2024There are 2 Meetings today following the early abandonment of Fontwell, a National Hunt Fixture at Catterick with very small fields and an AW Fixture at Kempton where by far the most competitive race of the day is the final race of the day, so let's have a bash!Back with more tomorrow and on Friday some final Cheltenham Ante Post thoughts and confirmations as we will by then hopefully have a pretty accurate weather outlook from a weather expert. Tuesday 5th MarchPublished: 05/03/2024Good morning; A very disappointing day at Leopardstown yesterday once again. It's been a tough February in the main, it seems to be a trend over the past few years and whilst we normally have a very strong Cheltenham to banish the blues, it doesn't hide the fact that results have simply not been acceptable of late. We will have the usual National Hunt review and take learnings forward after Cheltenham and Aintree and having had a successful overall 2023 Flat Turf season we d... [Read More]

Monday 4th MarchPublished: 04/03/2024There are moderate field sizes at Southwell and PLumpton today over the JUmps and a non-descript AW Fixture at Wolverhampton. So we'll head to Leopardstown for a couple of competitive Handicap Hurdles and hope for better luck than yesterday which ended in a tip race full of fallers and unseats and hopefully all horses are safe and sound today. Sunday 3rd MarchPublished: 03/03/2024We seem to be finding some big priced horses on a Saturday that get well backed and finish runner up. For the second week running a similar scenario with Ginger Mail who was available at 40/1 in places when the tips went out and around 25-28/1 for a considerable part of the morning, ultimately a fine runner up at 16/1. Skycutter didn't run badly in third place/ The Doncaster race turned out to be very attritional on desperate ground and it's the sort of form that can be largely ignored as many w... [Read More]

Saturday 2nd MarchPublished: 02/03/2024We await Inspections at Newbury and Navan, there are a couple of 9 runner races at Newbury that we may have attacked so I will make them "Pointer" races (see below) and there is nothing really to note anyway today at Navan. It was always our intention to focus on the Grimethorpe at Doncaster and the Morebattle at Kelso, races in which we have had excellent big priced winners in the past few years, and we'll hope for more of the same today with both Courses reporting Good to Soft ground, Sof... Friday 1st MarchPublished: 01/03/2024We've been clamouring for some competitive Racing all week, and indeed for much of 2024, so with 3 AW Fixtures and an NH Fixture at Newbury actually offering something to get our teeth in to today, we'll have a bash on a couple of high Class AW Handicaps at Lingfield, a decent Handicap Hurdle over the sticks at Newbury and a competitive 2 mile AW race at Dundalk, where a couple of shrapnel bets at big prices carry an interesting degree of tipster confidence. Thursday 29th FebruaryPublished: 29/02/2024National Hunt at Ludlow (small fields) ; Clonmel (inspection imminent) ; Wetherby (smallish fields and one double figure runner handicap discounted) and Taunton today and AW at Chelmsford. We did look at the 5.10 at Wetherby a 12 runner handicap, it's full of unexposed Handicap debutants in the main though and very little with experience who have Heavy ground form, so best left alone. There are a glut of more promising Trackers in the 7-8 runner fields to consider for those that like t... [Read More]

Tuesday 27th FebruaryPublished: 28/02/2024There is Racing over the Jumps today at Catterick and Leicester and AW at Southwell. Very small NH fields at Leicester, a couple of 12 runner handicaps at Catterick of which we'll attack the opening race on the Card. Nothing of interest at Southwell on the AW. We'll also have a look back at the weekend and a look ahead to Cheltenham. [Read More]

Wednesday 28th FebruaryPublished: 28/02/2024No great joy yesterday with just a place for Zwicky from the sole tip race. The NH Cards today at Bangor and Wincanton again deliver very poor field sizes, we will have a bash therefore at just the one race, the 10 runner North Wales National at Bangor. The AW Card at Kempton is similarly bereft of runners in the main. The long list fields for the Cheltenham Handicaps have now been published so we will start to look closely at them. The first phase will weed out the likely non - runner... [Read More]

Monday 26th FebruaryPublished: 26/02/2024Good Morning; There is NH action at Ayr (small fields with all races below 8 runners) and Plumpton 9Inspection at 8am (a 12 runner Maiden with no enhanced places and all other races 8 runners of less) and AW at Wolverhampton (one race with a double figure field). So basically, especially considering very high winds in places, we will ABSTAIN for today. A very informative Handicap Hurdle at Naas yesterday and a positive outcome at Hereford with the 3 selections coming home 2-3-4 and all... [Read More]

Saturday 24th FebruaryPublished: 24/02/2024We seem a bit like a stuck record with the "weather" being a huge factor again this weekend but it's going to be Heavy and very attritional Going at Newcastle and Chepstow, and likely to be very similar at Kempton. The Entries at Newcastle and Chepstow at least reflect the Going as it was 100% sure to be Heavy at the time Entries were made. The somewhat unexpected amount of the deluge that fell at Kempton on Thursday though could lead to a glut on non-runners there based on a lot of the Ent... [Read More]

Friday 23rd FebruaryPublished: 23/02/2024An enhanced 16/1 place yesterday for Not May at Thurles and that is a horse we will certainly keep a close eye on as it looks a future winner. No joy at Newcastle with the sole runner there last night. With Warwick OFF we await an Inspection at Exeter where there is a cracking race at 4.10 with pretty much all of the 11 runners having a decent shout. Sedgefield sadly has small field sizes although Dillarchie in the 4.00 race is one we think will win. Lingfield (very small fields),... [Read More]

Thursday 22nd FebruaryPublished: 22/02/2024A poor return yesterday with a shortish priced runner up at Doncaster and a short priced third at Punchestown, so below expectations overall. Very limited options for us today but we're quietly confident about a few at decent prices in a race at Thurles which lacks depth and an AW handicap at Newcastle, where a couple catch the eye based on price value and some decent past form. We've also a couple of interesting Cheltenham types to follow from myself. [Read More]

Wednesday 21st FebruaryPublished: 21/02/2024A couple of short priced "pointer" wins yesterday for Chankaya and Bobby Shaftoe, in monetary terms pretty insignificant but after a very poor few days, it's a small boost to confidence, akin to a couple of streaky edges through the Slips for four, or having a goal go in off your shins on the line...hopefully it can kick start a nice run of some wins and plenty of big priced places. It's going to be a very wet couple of days in most parts, possibly some more wintery weather u... [Read More]

Tuesday 20th FebruaryPublished: 20/02/2024No joy in terms of financial gain yesterday but pretty promising runs on the AW from both Eklil (who may just need an extra furlong) and Dynamiste (who will be winning soone on evidence of handicap debut) that can hopefully translate to something more substantial in the coming weeks and we will be TRACKING Both. There are very few punctuation options again today in terms of competitive decent sized field Handicaps, but a couple of races deserve some shrapnel interest [Read More]

Monday 19th FebruaryPublished: 19/02/2024A second poor day made it a very poor weekend and we'll cover that off in the email tomorrow. There is very little to attack or enthuse over today with very small fields generally and no real punting options at the sole NH Fixture at Carlisle, and not much better at Wolverhampton or Lingfield. Our AW Expert did take a close and long look at the 2.17 at Lingfield ,a 10 furlong Handicap with 12 runners. There are 4 horses tightly pack at prices from around 3/1 to 5/1 at the top of t... Sunday 18th FebruaryPublished: 18/02/2024A very disappointing day yesterday and no excuses. Ian will review this and there will also be some new "Horses to Follow" and a few more Cheltenham pointers in the mail on TUESDAY. Moderate Cards at Musselburgh and Southwell today over the Jumps, an AW fixture filler at Kempton, so let's have a bash at 2 races at Punchestown where Sean and Michael are pretty confident that they have found some value in the Heavy Going. Saturday 17th FebruaryPublished: 17/02/2024A poor outcome from the sole tip yesterday who raced prominently before fading badly. Many would look at a last place and see nothing but the last place but this is a horse we will definitely track forwards as there was something in the run and if dropping slightly in trip next time and just getting the pace fractions better, there is definitely scope for that horse to win at big odds. There are good Cards at Ascot and Haydock today, Gowran Park stages a Meeting too as does Wincanton w... [Read More]

Friday 16th FebruaryPublished: 16/02/2024We can only attack races when the ammunition and field sizes are there to offer each way value, so a 22/1 place to SP and 33/1 advised for Paddy The Horse was a decent enough return from the sole tip race at Newcastle yesterday. That followed Damask who was placed 3rd at 16/1 SP on Wednesday. With very small fields at Fakenham today, small fields at Kelso too over the Jumps and not much to enthuse over on the AW we'll have a sole tip in the opening 9 runner race at Kelso, in the hope and ex... Thursday 15th FebruaryPublished: 15/02/2024A decent run by Damask to finish 3rd at Hereford yesterday at 16/1 SP, after Kimberley Eve had unseated very early in the race. There is NH at Sandown today, we looked closely at the 4.15 Handicap Chase but with 4 horses all under 5/1 in the betting and nothing with a heavy ground profile at any kind of each way price, we'll give it a swerve. Newcastle and Clonmel face Inspections, very average Card at Clonmel. There is one race we like at Newcastle and hopefully it survives, so j... [Read More]
