We had a nice winner with Don Brocco yesterday, advised at 14/1 and available at higher prices for a while some late money saw it come in from 11/1 to 7/1 on Course. An excellent run too from Nights In Venice advised at 16/1 who returned a 22/1 SP finishing in 3rd place. There was less joy in Ireland unfortunately. There is NH at Market Rasen and Taunton today and  AW at Newcastle. There aren't too many punting options with very few double figure sized fields but Novice Handi... [Read More]

A fair run from Riann who was our 4th best rated in the 17 runner handicap at Leopardstown and the one we left out of the investments as 4th best rated at Musselburgh Magna Sam certainly benefited from the wind operation that we flagged up in the analysis. Fine margins are the name of the game. On another day that pair would have been second or third rated and invested in. We also tread a fine line between having the deep analysis that goes into this level of depth that delights some but fr... [Read More]

A nice 1-2 in the big field handicap in Ireland yesterday for the second successive year, Percival Legallois the 15/2 winner and the admirable and gallant Gaoth Chuill again the runner up at 11/1. With North Parade finishing industry standard 4th place in the 16 runner field at Wetherby and Hazy Glen a widely available enhanced 5th place in the same race, it wasn't a bad day at the Office. We'll look at those races and the outcomes of the tip races today and some general pointers from the D... There was a decent run by the consistent Joe Cotton who finished a runner up at Lingfield yesterday, the performances of Major Dundee and The Two Amigos though were very disappointing at the same venue and it was galling to see a TRACKER horse in Sporting Ace win their race on ground that all evidence suggested would be too heavy at the extended trip. A nice win for The Paddy Pie was not unexpected in the tip race at Catterick where the selection failed to deliver. There are decent Car... [Read More]

I don't think we missed anything winner wise at Wincanton yesterday on a day when the market dominated proceedings. There is Jump action today at Catterick and Lingfield and three AW Fixtures. We'll attack the Surrey National and another Handicap Chase at Lingfield and a Handicap Chase at Catterick with both Meetings run on genuinely Soft Going with a fair bit of heavy deep dead ground probable at Lingfield. Good Morning; The Meeting at Wincanton is ON. There are also a couple of very poor AW Fixtures. Having spoken to a very respected Member who lives in the village of Babcary, not very far from Wincanton and who has pretty close contacts with a few local Trainers and the Course , we have decided NOT to tip today from Wincanton.  The Track has been underwater for a few days, the standing water has gone, but we are advised the Track will be very patchy with areas of very deep gro... Good Morning; A nice win for Maciver at Limerick yesterday, backed in from 8/1 to 3/1 SP and we also had Winter Carnival advised at 25/1 dead-heating for 3rd at 14/1. Interesting to note the analysis comment on the runner up Mullanour (not a tip but a sign that there is nothing wrong with the analysis of the Tipsters in Ireland, I just feel they need a bit of luck to click). A decent 3rd place too from Twilight Glory to finish 3rd at 10/1 SP at Chepstow. The only disappointment was at ... [Read More]

An enhanced 5th place at 20/1 SP for Doyen Flyer simply mitigated some of the losses on the main tip race at Punchestown yesterday which was disappointing. In the other mentioned race there both Driveonwill and John The Diva ran well enough to place at decent SP's. The South West and particularly Somerset has been very badly affected by both of the Storms that came over the weekend and it seems that the Paul Nicholls yard has suffered very badly reading the front of the Racing Post tod... No joy with some clearly outlined speculative type pokes yesterday, one of those days when you look at the results after Racing and it seems like every favourite has won or if not something at a very short price. The NH Fixture at Hereford has been abandoned, I suspect more on safety grounds due to forecast high winds and further torrential rain, Plumpton, where field sizes would have prevented any tips anyway, may follow suit in an hour or so with similar high wind and heavy rain concerns.... Having started the week with a very confidently analysed 20/1 SP winner with Topkapi Star, I think it's fair to say we haven't had the best of luck since with some decent placed efforts a few of which were unlucky. A decent third place run by Baldur Gate at 10/1 at Fairyhouse was a decent effort and an enhanced 4th from Twyfords Diamond was fair enough at Uttoxeter, both the selections at Cheltenham ran below expectation too. To lose any horse on the Track is devastating for all concerned, ... A decent enough run into a 4th place (industry standard with more than 16 runners) for Spitalfield at 28/1 at Doncaster was a decent enough effort yesterday, sadly the Handicap Chase was ruined by the "low sun" with pretty much half the fences omitted. Fingers crossed the same fate does not befall the Great Yorkshire Chase today, a cracking Betting heat. We know TV schedules take priority but the sun, if it appears, is a factor for no more than a 30 minute window, so why they can't schedule... [Read More]

After a couple of promising runs at Huntingdon from Masked Dance and Shelley Gardens the results at Gowran Park were bitterly disappointing. Our Irish Tipsters who have been excellent and consistently good over the past few seasons haven't become bad Tipsters overnight, but since December their form has largely been very poor and out of character. We're not into knee-jerk reactions and I'm still very confident that as always they will have an excellent March and April, but we will have... [Read More]

We never bemoan bad luck here at SP2A because as long term Members will know very well our philosophy has always been one of "what goes around comes around" and over a period of time it's usually the case that you can "contra off" a lucky winner with an unlucky loser. That being the case over many years, I think we can mark the runs of both My Friend Yeates and Final Edgar at Catterick yesterday as being on the debit side and owing us a bit of lucky credit some time soon. The big Meeting to... No joy with a couple of speculative punts yesterday on a quiet day and whilst there is some very competitive action over the Jumps at Catterick, the two AW Fixtures are low on numbers and options. We'll attack a Handicap Chase and a very competitive Handicap Hurdle at Catterick. [Read More]

It's always nice to report a big priced winner like Topkapi Star at 20/1, nicer still to begin to show the green shoots of some overall good form after a very frustrating period dictated by the weather and best of all it's great when a big priced winner is tipped with such confidence, and a market drifter to boot. There were decent placed efforts in the other two races also from Minniemum at 14/1 and the well backed Greenways. It's a bit frustrating that there aren't really any decent ... [Read More]

A nice win for Mortens Leam at 7/1 and a place for So Said I, both at Fakenham yesterday meant we did well at that quirky track. Less successful at Windsor where some speculative suggestions failed on Going that looked a bit better than we thought it would be. I'm not convinced at all having watched the Racing there on Friday and yesterday, that it will be an NH track that is a great betting opportunity. The layout on a pretty narrow and tight piece of ground means that as the commentator very a... [Read More]

It was a nice feeling to have some winners yesterday after a very frustrating period after we'd banged in some big priced winners, to have really a couple of weeks with very few betting options and no real successes. Safe Destination was a cracking price at 9/1 and although we got the Staking the wrong way around at Navan a 1-2 from Music Of Tara at 12/1 SP and Blaze The Way at 6/1, hopefully blew all of the Irish cobwebs away and sets us up for one of those turbo-charged runs over there that we... A decent and possibly slightly unlucky run from Peejaybee into second place at Market Rasen yesterday where Awaythelad was a non-runner. No joy at Windsor and my impressions of that TRack on TV are that it doesn't really add much as a spectacle and it may become something of a Course specialists track and also suit hold up horses. The sad fact of TV Racing and the Racing media is that 90% of the air-time and debate will be about a 4 runner race at Ascot and one horse in particular. A couple of non runners yesterday unfortunately and a couple of enhanced place finishes. That's IF the places were paid in one instance after multiple non runners. Our frustration continues after a fortnight of very little meaningful action due to the weather. Today sees the first of 3 days at the "Berkshire Winter Million", over a million quid spaffed up in Prize Money to support the richest venue in Flat Racing and a moderate Flat Track who suddenly decide to recreate ... A shame that we had a non runner at Clonmel yesterday that we had high hopes for and whilst New Order was disappointing at Newbury there was a bold and promising run into 3rd place for Phantom Getaway, who I think will be picking up a small race somewhere quite soon. There are 4 NH Fixtures today at Ludlow, Newcastle, Wincanton and Fairyhouse and AW at Chelmsford. Smallish fields and an Inspection means we'll leave ludlow alone today and having spoken to a good friend who lives just down th... [Read More]

The selections yesterday ran well enough in a race won by the hot favourite but just missed out on places. The good news is that we get some National Hunt Racing today at Clonmel, Newbury and Hereford. There aren't a glut of runners though at any of the meetings so sparse pickings. However, the easing (finally!) weather conditions bodes well for the coming days and hopefully we can get back into a nice rhythm of some decent competitive handicaps, three to four tip races per day, a stre... A 4th and an enhanced widely available 5th place finish from the 2 main selections yesterday was on the scale of the minimum of expectations but not a disaster. With the weather slowly improving we get National Hunt at Exeter and Punchestown today and a couple of fairly competitive Handicaps to attack at the back ends of the respective Cards. It's not great quality so caution in staking is suggested. We've sought out some mud lovers with proven stamina on decent handicap marks. [Read More]

Irish action is at Punchestown today and there is a poor AW Fixture at Lingfield. With weather conditions starting to ease we'll hopefully get back in to a nice rhythm of daily tips and analysis from now onwards after a very stop/start period to 2025 with a lot of Abandonments over Jumps and some on the AW and as always, we won't tip on days of poor quality AW Racing just for the sake of it. A couple of interesting Novice and maiden races in Ireland today but the obvious and really onl... With the marquee Meetings at Warwick and Kempton both abandoned, the hastily scheduled Meeting at Ffos Llas thankfully goes ahead. You do have to question why, with some compelling evidence, the BHA didn't move the top 3-4 races to Ffos Llas, but I suppose the gin swillers would not have the faintest idea how to get there and will reschedule them somewhere around the M25 in due course. Hopefully Warwick get to keep their races though and have a bumper combined Card on their second Janu... [Read More]

There are 3 x AW Fixtures today, Lingfield have an early inspection, but Newcastle and Dundalk look sure to go ahead, although neither have too many double figure field sizes. We've selected a race each at Newcastle and Dundalk with one main selection in each, and a secondary bigger priced more speculative approach for those interested. We will be back in the morning at around 9am - fingers crossed for some Jumping at Ffos Llas and Fairyhouse and possibly Kempton. Good Morning; NO SELECTIONS TODAYIt's been a few winters since we have had a weather break from National Hunt, I think our longest was 2 weeks, so this should be seen as a minor blip!No joy yesterday with a couple of speculative pokes. There is AW at Lingfield today (one race with 10 runners, the rest with single figure fields) and at Chelmsford (a venue we wouldn't touch with someone else barge pole). So we will abstain for today. There are 3 AW Fixtures tomorrow and in particular the ones a... The good news is that the NH Card at Taunton has passed an Inspection. The not so good news is that the field sizes there are pretty meagre and it would only take one non runner in many of the races to reduce e/w betting to 2 places. We do though have a sporting each way poke in a Novice Hurdle. The AW Card and Newcastle is also quite short on numbers, so we'll go to Kempton for a 13 runner Handicap that looks to offer some decent each way value. Mumcat, who has been running "choke out" rec... The AW Card at Wolverhampton is the sole survivor today. Our Northern + AW Expert has looked at all of the races on the Card, we've discounted 8 and 9 runner races in the event that any non-runners (most likely travel related like we saw yesterday) would reduce the place odds down to 2 places. There are a couple of races we considered but by far the most confident each way poke at a nice price is in the 6.00 race. [Read More]

Good Morning; No joy in the sole tip race at Naas yesterday with the race being won by a horse returning off a 541 days break, there was a little bit of promising form prior to the lay off but I would not class it in the "one that got away" category by any means. The Chepstow Card was abandoned after 2 races and Plumpton was a late abandonment after passing first Inspection. Today Ayr is currently ON, Ludlow is OFF and there is a very poor AW Card at Wolverhampton. The field sizes... NO TIPS TODAY It was frustrating to see the horse we left out of the final 5 considered in the 20 runner Handicap at Ayr (Santa Clarita) run a good 2nd place at 33/1 and a bit frustrating to see the quietly fancied Gaillimh A Star beaten on the nod to be runner up also at Ayr in yesterday's tip races. Quite understandably there is a bit of a lull again today in potential action after a very busy week covering Christmas and New Year. The AW at Lingfield has to pass an early inspect...
