Good Morning; There is NH action at Ayr (small fields with all races below 8 runners) and Plumpton 9Inspection at 8am (a 12 runner Maiden with no enhanced places and all other races 8 runners of less) and AW at Wolverhampton (one race with a double figure field). So basically, especially considering very high winds in places, we will ABSTAIN for today. A very informative Handicap Hurdle at Naas yesterday and a positive outcome at Hereford with the 3 selections coming home 2-3-4 and all... We seem a bit like a stuck record with the "weather" being a huge factor again this weekend but it's going to be Heavy and very attritional Going at Newcastle and Chepstow, and likely to be very similar at Kempton. The Entries at Newcastle and Chepstow at least reflect the Going as it was 100% sure to be Heavy at the time Entries were made. The somewhat unexpected amount of the deluge that fell at Kempton on Thursday though could lead to a glut on non-runners there based on a lot of the Ent... [Read More]

An enhanced 16/1 place yesterday for Not May at Thurles and that is a horse we will certainly keep a close eye on as it looks a future winner. No joy at Newcastle with the sole runner there last night. With Warwick OFF we await an Inspection at Exeter where there is a cracking race at 4.10 with pretty much all of the 11 runners having a decent shout. Sedgefield sadly has small field sizes although Dillarchie in the 4.00 race is one we think will win. Lingfield (very small fields),... [Read More]

A poor return yesterday with a shortish priced runner up at Doncaster and a short priced third at Punchestown, so below expectations overall. Very limited options for us today but we're quietly confident about a few at decent prices in a race at Thurles which lacks depth and an AW handicap at Newcastle, where a couple catch the eye based on price value and some decent past form. We've also a couple of interesting Cheltenham types to follow from myself. A couple of short priced "pointer" wins yesterday for Chankaya and Bobby Shaftoe, in monetary terms pretty insignificant but after a very poor few days, it's a small boost to confidence, akin to a couple of streaky edges through the Slips for four, or having a goal go in off your shins on the line...hopefully it can kick start a nice run of some wins and plenty of big priced places. It's going to be a very wet couple of days in most parts, possibly some more wintery weather u... No joy in terms of financial gain yesterday but pretty promising runs on the AW from both Eklil (who may just need an extra furlong) and Dynamiste (who will be winning soone on evidence of handicap debut) that can hopefully translate to something more substantial in the coming weeks and we will be TRACKING Both. There are very few punctuation options again today in terms of competitive decent sized field Handicaps, but a couple of races deserve some shrapnel interest  [Read More]

A second poor day made it a very poor weekend and we'll cover that off in the email tomorrow. There is very little to attack or enthuse over today with very small fields generally and no real punting options at the sole NH Fixture at Carlisle, and not much better at Wolverhampton or Lingfield. Our AW Expert did take a close and long look at the 2.17 at Lingfield ,a 10 furlong Handicap with 12 runners. There are 4 horses tightly pack at prices from around 3/1 to 5/1 at the top of t... [Read More]

A very disappointing day yesterday and no excuses. Ian will review this and there will also be some new "Horses to Follow" and a few more Cheltenham pointers in the mail on TUESDAY.  Moderate Cards at Musselburgh and Southwell today over the Jumps, an AW fixture filler at Kempton, so let's have a bash at 2 races at Punchestown where Sean and Michael are pretty confident that they have found some value in the Heavy Going. A poor outcome from the sole tip yesterday who raced prominently before fading badly. Many would look at a last place and see nothing but the last place but this is a horse we will definitely track forwards as there was something in the run and if dropping slightly in trip next time and just getting the pace fractions better, there is definitely scope for that horse to win at big odds. There are good Cards at Ascot and Haydock today, Gowran Park stages a Meeting too as does Wincanton w... We can only attack races when the ammunition and field sizes are there to offer each way value, so a 22/1 place to SP and 33/1 advised for Paddy The Horse was a decent enough return from the sole tip race at Newcastle yesterday. That followed Damask who was placed 3rd at 16/1 SP on Wednesday. With very small fields at Fakenham today, small fields at Kelso too over the Jumps and not much to enthuse over on the AW we'll have a sole tip in the opening 9 runner race at Kelso, in the hope and ex... A decent run by Damask to finish 3rd at Hereford yesterday at 16/1 SP, after Kimberley Eve had unseated very early in the race. There is NH at Sandown today, we looked closely at the 4.15 Handicap Chase but with 4 horses all under 5/1 in the betting and nothing with a heavy ground profile at any kind of each way price, we'll give it a swerve. Newcastle and Clonmel face Inspections, very average Card at Clonmel. There is one race we like at Newcastle and hopefully it survives, so j... [Read More]

A Happy Valentine's Day to all of our Members.  We couldn't find a winner yesterday but commendable runs from Seangoell 2nd at 8/1, Winter Carnival 4th at 9/1 (was advised when widely available at 50/1 I'm not sure why / how the price crashed and when?), Cream Of The West runner up and Artic Man an enhanced 4th and even when not placing a very commendable run by Max Dynamo 4th at 33/1.  There are fewer options today and with Fontwell inspecting later and not too much to note ... Good Morning; A nice 16/1 winner which was advised at 9/1 and confidence justified for Aodhan May at Navan yesterday. The main selections at Exeter finished 4th and 5th and were both a little disappointing. There are generally small fields at the two Jumps Fixtures are Catterick and Plumpton today, a couple of short priced Trackers (see below). It's not much more enticing at Wolverhampton where the biggest field is in a non-handicap.  We saw on Thursday with a couple of nice ... [Read More]

A few decent place runs if you took the "odds to 6th place" at Newbury yesterday with Go Dante finishing 4th at 14/1, Faivoir a very gallant 5th at 50/1 and the eye catcher for me was Knickerbockerglory who ran right up with the pace before fading but still picked up some 6th place shrapnel at an SP of 22/1. Disappointing not to get the winner but a number of horses noted and we'll keep an eye on them. On that topic, I'm still awaiting a few details from Sean, as you'll be aware and as... [Read More]

We've lost a couple of decent NH Fixtures due to waterlogging at Warwick and Uttoxeter. That leaves Newbury where the Going is officially Heavy and likely to be an absolute mud-bath. There is also NH in Ireland at Naas. To be perfectly honest with the exception of the big Betfair Hurdle, a 24 runner Handicap at Newbury today, there is very little to attack or enthuse over. There is AW at Newcastle and Wolverhampton but nothing that really jumps off the page at either meeting. There appears ... [Read More]

The Meeting at Kempton is ON and we did look closely at the Handicap Hurdle at 3.10 but it looks like the top end of the market will dominate and there is very little of value with any kind of credible form in Heavy ground at the trip or beyond. The more experienced types like old favourite Karakorum would usually need better ground. Sami Bear, last year's winner and Thunderclap upped in trip but a winner on Heavy looked the most likely at a price to deliver some e/w profit. We'll focus the... [Read More]

Good Morning  A good day for us at Sedgefield yesterday. Velasco, from an in-form yard, was widely available at 12/1 early morning and backed in late On Course to 11/2 and was given a good ride. Dillarchie who was also widely available at advised early price of 9/1 was similarly well supported On Course and won well at 5/1 and a nice bit of icing on the cake from On We Go who was advised at 20/1 returned a very juicy 40/1 and once again that "Mares seasonal insights" form angle that we... A decent enough run from Lelant to finish 4th yesterday at 7/1 and whilst Sea Village ran a disappointing race, a nice place finish at 40/1 (advised 66/1) for anyone who had a few bob each way on Battle March. There is NH at Ludlow, Sedgefield and Faityhouse (7.30am Inspection) today and AW at Kempton. A few decent Maiden / Novice races at Ludlow, nothing really of note at Fairyhouse if it's On or not, and not a lot to enthuse us at Kempton but a pair of competitive Handicap Hurdle Rac... There is NH at Market Rasen and Taunton today, AW at Wolverhampton. There isn't a great deal to attack punting wise but a reasonably competitive 16 runner handicap that closes the Card at Taunton has caught Robin;s eye and we have a couple of "Pointer" Races. There are better punting options later in the week, providing the incoming snow and rain doesn't have too great an impact. Following the tips and analysis and a few Trackers (if you don't have them in your preference mail they will be ... Any thoughts about a very poor weekend in Ireland at Leopardstown will be discussed in the email tomorrow morning, that was always the plan , however it seems insignificant now when we've awoken to hear the details of the tragic death of Keagan Kirkby, a 25 year old working lad from the Paul Nicholls yard who lost his life riding in a POint 2 pOint Meeting in Kent yesterday. We get used to injuries in Sport and thankfully bad injuries are still quite rare, but fatalities really do hit home espec... [Read More]

Good Morning; National Hunt at Catterick (not a single race above 7 runners) and Southwell (some decent field sizes but poor overall and a case of trying to find any e/w value) plus 3 run of the mill AW Fixtures with nothing at all standing out at any value. Another very moderate day for punting options. When the best Fixture is, National Hunt at Southwell, with all due respect to Southwell, you know it's not a great day of opportunity. We looked at the 1.25; 1.55 and 2.55 races at... Good Morning; A decent effort from the main selections yesterday to finish 2nd and 3rd at Exeter, no complaints, a worthy winner and some e/w shrapnel for us. The Cards at Wincanton and Ffos Llas today are very poor betting propositions, we've looked at all of the Handicaps and can find nothing at a decent e/w price with any confidence and with a number of 8 runner races that may well drop below 8 runners and some market dominated non-handicaps, we feel its most sensible to abstain for... It's very unusual for us to make an excuse but I feel that yesterday it was entirely justified to ask "what's going on?". Good to Soft forecast at Newcastle suddenly turned to Heavy, and just looking at the non-runners in the tip race told the story really. To a lesser degree, I thought that the "heavy" at Chepstow was more Good to Soft in most places and that was evidence by one of the Tracker horses who hates heavy but likes Good to Soft winning at 18/1, when had we had the advantage of knowin... A very positive day yesterday with GA Law given an excellent ride that optimised the horses stamina reserves to the full to win at an SP of 8/1 at Cheltenham and then an outstanding pace judgement ride from the front on Annual Invictus in the Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster, so often you see such brave rides get mugged on the line, so great to see enterprise fully rewarded. There are Meetings at Doncaster, Fontwell and Naas today, not too much to attack in terms of handicaps or part... A near miss at Lingfield where The Resdev Way came with a late wet sail as predicted but just failed to get up with the winner Largo Bay who we'd said may be vulnerable to a closer just getting home. Watching the race back it was noted that The Resdev Way just had to take a momentary pull about 300 yards out and those are the small margins that can be the difference between winning and losing on the AW. Savoy Brown ran very well for a long way for a 66/1 poke and should be followed. We woul... [Read More]

A very poor outcome though at Navan where as the analysis indicated may be the case , on this occasion the lottery of the big Yard battalions this time fell to a De Bromhead runner who it has to be said ran an excellent race leaving us with no excuses after a run of good results in the bigger midweek Irish handicaps.
