Monday 20th JanuaryPublished: 20/01/2025A nice win for Mortens Leam at 7/1 and a place for So Said I, both at Fakenham yesterday meant we did well at that quirky track. Less successful at Windsor where some speculative suggestions failed on Going that looked a bit better than we thought it would be. I'm not convinced at all having watched the Racing there on Friday and yesterday, that it will be an NH track that is a great betting opportunity. The layout on a pretty narrow and tight piece of ground means that as the commentator very a... [Read More]

Sunday 19th JanuaryPublished: 19/01/2025It was a nice feeling to have some winners yesterday after a very frustrating period after we'd banged in some big priced winners, to have really a couple of weeks with very few betting options and no real successes. Safe Destination was a cracking price at 9/1 and although we got the Staking the wrong way around at Navan a 1-2 from Music Of Tara at 12/1 SP and Blaze The Way at 6/1, hopefully blew all of the Irish cobwebs away and sets us up for one of those turbo-charged runs over there that we... Saturday 18th JanuaryPublished: 18/01/2025A decent and possibly slightly unlucky run from Peejaybee into second place at Market Rasen yesterday where Awaythelad was a non-runner. No joy at Windsor and my impressions of that TRack on TV are that it doesn't really add much as a spectacle and it may become something of a Course specialists track and also suit hold up horses. The sad fact of TV Racing and the Racing media is that 90% of the air-time and debate will be about a 4 runner race at Ascot and one horse in particular. Meanwhil... [Read More]

Friday 17th JanuaryPublished: 17/01/2025A couple of non runners yesterday unfortunately and a couple of enhanced place finishes. That's IF the places were paid in one instance after multiple non runners. Our frustration continues after a fortnight of very little meaningful action due to the weather. Today sees the first of 3 days at the "Berkshire Winter Million", over a million quid spaffed up in Prize Money to support the richest venue in Flat Racing and a moderate Flat Track who suddenly decide to recreate ... Thursday 16th JanuaryPublished: 16/01/2025A shame that we had a non runner at Clonmel yesterday that we had high hopes for and whilst New Order was disappointing at Newbury there was a bold and promising run into 3rd place for Phantom Getaway, who I think will be picking up a small race somewhere quite soon. There are 4 NH Fixtures today at Ludlow, Newcastle, Wincanton and Fairyhouse and AW at Chelmsford. Smallish fields and an Inspection means we'll leave ludlow alone today and having spoken to a good friend who lives just down th... [Read More]

Wednesday 15th JanuaryPublished: 15/01/2025The selections yesterday ran well enough in a race won by the hot favourite but just missed out on places. The good news is that we get some National Hunt Racing today at Clonmel, Newbury and Hereford. There aren't a glut of runners though at any of the meetings so sparse pickings. However, the easing (finally!) weather conditions bodes well for the coming days and hopefully we can get back into a nice rhythm of some decent competitive handicaps, three to four tip races per day, a stre... Monday 13th JanuaryPublished: 13/01/2025A 4th and an enhanced widely available 5th place finish from the 2 main selections yesterday was on the scale of the minimum of expectations but not a disaster. With the weather slowly improving we get National Hunt at Exeter and Punchestown today and a couple of fairly competitive Handicaps to attack at the back ends of the respective Cards. It's not great quality so caution in staking is suggested. We've sought out some mud lovers with proven stamina on decent handicap marks. [Read More]

Sunday 12th JanuaryPublished: 12/01/2025Irish action is at Punchestown today and there is a poor AW Fixture at Lingfield. With weather conditions starting to ease we'll hopefully get back in to a nice rhythm of daily tips and analysis from now onwards after a very stop/start period to 2025 with a lot of Abandonments over Jumps and some on the AW and as always, we won't tip on days of poor quality AW Racing just for the sake of it. A couple of interesting Novice and maiden races in Ireland today but the obvious and really onl... [Read More]

Saturday 11th JanuaryPublished: 11/01/2025With the marquee Meetings at Warwick and Kempton both abandoned, the hastily scheduled Meeting at Ffos Llas thankfully goes ahead. You do have to question why, with some compelling evidence, the BHA didn't move the top 3-4 races to Ffos Llas, but I suppose the gin swillers would not have the faintest idea how to get there and will reschedule them somewhere around the M25 in due course. Hopefully Warwick get to keep their races though and have a bumper combined Card on their second Janu... [Read More]

Friday 10th JanuaryPublished: 10/01/2025There are 3 x AW Fixtures today, Lingfield have an early inspection, but Newcastle and Dundalk look sure to go ahead, although neither have too many double figure field sizes. We've selected a race each at Newcastle and Dundalk with one main selection in each, and a secondary bigger priced more speculative approach for those interested. We will be back in the morning at around 9am - fingers crossed for some Jumping at Ffos Llas and Fairyhouse and possibly Kempton. Thursday 9th JanuaryPublished: 09/01/2025Good Morning; NO SELECTIONS TODAYIt's been a few winters since we have had a weather break from National Hunt, I think our longest was 2 weeks, so this should be seen as a minor blip!No joy yesterday with a couple of speculative pokes. There is AW at Lingfield today (one race with 10 runners, the rest with single figure fields) and at Chelmsford (a venue we wouldn't touch with someone else barge pole). So we will abstain for today. There are 3 AW Fixtures tomorrow and in particular the ones a... Wednesday 8th JanuaryPublished: 08/01/2025The good news is that the NH Card at Taunton has passed an Inspection. The not so good news is that the field sizes there are pretty meagre and it would only take one non runner in many of the races to reduce e/w betting to 2 places. We do though have a sporting each way poke in a Novice Hurdle. The AW Card and Newcastle is also quite short on numbers, so we'll go to Kempton for a 13 runner Handicap that looks to offer some decent each way value. Mumcat, who has been running "choke out" rec... [Read More]

Tuesday 7th JanuaryPublished: 07/01/2025The AW Card at Wolverhampton is the sole survivor today. Our Northern + AW Expert has looked at all of the races on the Card, we've discounted 8 and 9 runner races in the event that any non-runners (most likely travel related like we saw yesterday) would reduce the place odds down to 2 places. There are a couple of races we considered but by far the most confident each way poke at a nice price is in the 6.00 race. [Read More]

Monday 6th JanuaryPublished: 06/01/2025Good Morning; No joy in the sole tip race at Naas yesterday with the race being won by a horse returning off a 541 days break, there was a little bit of promising form prior to the lay off but I would not class it in the "one that got away" category by any means. The Chepstow Card was abandoned after 2 races and Plumpton was a late abandonment after passing first Inspection. Today Ayr is currently ON, Ludlow is OFF and there is a very poor AW Card at Wolverhampton. The field sizes... [Read More]

Friday 3rd JanuaryPublished: 03/01/2025NO TIPS TODAY It was frustrating to see the horse we left out of the final 5 considered in the 20 runner Handicap at Ayr (Santa Clarita) run a good 2nd place at 33/1 and a bit frustrating to see the quietly fancied Gaillimh A Star beaten on the nod to be runner up also at Ayr in yesterday's tip races. Quite understandably there is a bit of a lull again today in potential action after a very busy week covering Christmas and New Year. The AW at Lingfield has to pass an early inspect... [Read More]

Tuesday 2nd JanuaryPublished: 02/01/2025A nice start to 2025 with John Storey winning at Fairyhouse at 18/1 SP, advised at 20/1 and with Healdsburg also placing in the same race and the win saver Rochestown winning at Tramore, it was an encouraging return from Ireland where we had struggled after Christmas. Dysania ran a cracking race to be runner up at 25/1 SP at Southwell and the only disappointment was at Exeter. There is a cracking Card at Ayr today and action too at Huntingdon where we looked at a few races but can't fi... [Read More]

Wednesday 1st JanuaryPublished: 01/01/2025A Very Happy New Year to you all, may it bring everyone peace, good health and hopefully a nice bit of profit and prosperity. It was nice to end 2024 with an advised 22/1 SP winner with some spot on analysis from The Advisor who spotted the fact that despite a penalty that Ithaka was still below its previous winning mark. There are 6 National Hunt Meetings in the UK today and so far we know that Cheltenham (sadly small fields) and Exeter (a tip race and a few decent other handicaps) ar... [Read More]

Tuesday 31st DecemberPublished: 31/12/2024We have NH racing at Uttoxeter and Warwick today and hopefully the high winds that are arriving in advance of heavy rain overnight and tomorrow will not impact on Racing today, or indeed tomorrow. There is also an NH Card at Punchestown which we have looked at but can't find anything of real note and AW at Lingfield. A fair number of TRACKERS at both Warwick and Uttoxter and the most interesting race (for future reference) at Warwick may be the 12.50 Novice Hurdle with a strong top end of t... [Read More]

Monday 30th DecemberPublished: 30/12/2024A win for Knockbrack Rambler who was advised at 8/1 and backed in to 4/1 SP was a modicum of success after 4 very poor Racing days in Ireland where we also saw Comfort Zone place. At Kelso; Nab Wood looked genuinely unlucky in running and should be winning again soon. With AW at Wolverhampton; and a couple of National Hunt Fixtures at Haydock on Heavy Going and at Taunton on Good to Soft that are sparsely attended by runners there is not much to enthuse over today. RJ is back after an ... [Read More]

Sunday 29th DecemberPublished: 29/12/2024A quick look at our UK Mainland Tipsters shows via independent proofing that our Northern Expert (72.9%) ; Robin T (67.2%) and The Advisor (60%) are running at very decent Return On Investment returns in December, a topic I will cover in more detail tomorrow and Tuesday to close the year and to set the scene for 2025. Saturday 28th DecemberPublished: 28/12/2024I thought that the UK weather had thrown every conceivable spanner in the works this past year aside from deep snow, I'd forgotten about "fog". Those of us of a certain age, and certainly those brought up in Industrial Conurbations before "smokeless zones" will have seen far worse but for the Gen Z's who now flood social media slagging off ITV because they couldn't see the horses in the fog, it will have come as a real shock! From what we could see we had some minor places and enhanced plac... [Read More]

Friday 27th DecemberPublished: 27/12/2024A nice win for our in-form Northern Expert with Achnamara at 6/1 SP started the day well yesterday, after which we had to settle for some decent placed / enhanced place efforts at nice prices, although not enough of them, from the likes of Room To Roam 12/1 SP and Irish Panther 16/1 SP. The Welsh Grand National is the highlight today and Robin has full analysis and selections from Chepstow, The Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown has unfortunately been hijacked by 10 runners from the MU... Boxing Day - Thursday 26th DecemberPublished: 26/12/2024We hope that you are having a nice and enjoyable Christmas as we start 11 days of busy action, although the quantity of runners in the UK is pretty alarming. On a day where you could guarantee big fields everywhere we have just one race with a double figure sized field at Kempton (The King George); one at Sedgefield (a tip race); a couple at Wetherby, none at Aintree or Market Rasen, a Novice Hurdle at Fontwell, and one at Wincanton, which we wanted to tip in but which looks very much ... Saturday 21st DecemberPublished: 21/12/2024As we mentioned earlier in the week this will be the last Tipping Day before Christmas Day (we'll take a day off tomorrow and no Racing then until the 26th). An opportune time therefore to wish you all A VERY HAPPY and healthy CHRISTMAS and we hope that you all have a great time. Your support is very much appreciated by Ian and myself and all of our Tipsters. We've had a generally decent run since Ian made the point about 2 weeks back that "all we need is some soft... Friday 20th DecemberPublished: 20/12/2024A couple of nice winners at Exeter yesterday with Imperial Joe winning at 7/1 SP and Martalite at 10/1 with Unspeakable also placing. The Ascot Card today looks tricky, we did look at a couple of races but we'll keep an eye on the Going and ground there for a better card tomorrow. Plenty of AW action but we'll go to Uttoxeter and a pre-Christmas Meeting that can throw up some big prices. We fear there may be a number of non runners (some already) on what may be far heavier ground than the "... [Read More]

Thursday 19th DecemberPublished: 19/12/2024A couple of decent places at double figures odds yesterday from Lucky So And So at LIngfield and Martalmix'jac at Ludlow. A couple of AW Meetings today at Southwell and Chelmsford look like Bookie fodder, Ffos Llas stages an NH Meeting but not really many runners there so we'll go to Exeter who stage 3 competitive Handicaps and where the advertised Good to Soft may be misleading after news that there has been almost 20 hours of continuous rain across that part of Devon since ... Wednesday 18th DecemberPublished: 18/12/2024It was a bit frustrating to see a horse we'd identified to TRACK forwards win the first tip race of the day at Catterick at 20/1. A good win there for Wrappedinroubies and one we'll certainly keep an eye on, although you'd imagine market value will be a lot less next time out. That frustration was hopefully blown away though when LOVE OF NEYMORE led from pillar to post, as suggested in the analysis, to win at an SP of 40/1 in the final race at Wincanton. It's always good to have a... [Read More]

Tuesday 17th DecemberPublished: 17/12/2024THere are a couple of reasonably competitive Mares only Handicap Hurdle races today, one at Catterick and one at Wincanton. These races have long been a source of some significant big priced winners and placed horses and whilst both Cards look likely to be dominated by market leaders, and despite the fact both of these races have pretty strong top end of the market betting options, we think that a few at bigger more speculative odds are worth a "small" each way investment! Monday 16th DecemberPublished: 16/12/2024It's not been very often that we've had to report a pretty abysmal day in Ireland, but no beating around the bush, a poor day at Navan yesterday, a track we generally excel at. I think both Tipsters and Ian feel the drying ground was a mitigation but those are not excuses and we have to work out what went wrong and try not to repeat them The card at Naas today focuses on shorter distance races in the main and with drying ground that they are watering to maintain (which seems barmy given the... Sunday 15th DecemberPublished: 15/12/2024The highlight yesterday was a nice win for Charlie Uberalles at Doncaster who backed up the very positive impression he'd made at the same course in the Spring, he may be one to follow in future Doncaster runs and possibly at somewhere like Ayr and Newcastle in the spring, Courses with very similar configurations. There is racing today in the UK at Carlisle where sadly numbers are pretty moderate which is a shame. There is also the first NH Fixture at the realigned Jumps Track at... [Read More]
