Monday 20th January

A nice win for Mortens Leam at 7/1 and a place for So Said I, both at Fakenham yesterday meant we did well at that quirky track. Less successful at Windsor where some speculative suggestions failed on Going that looked a bit better than we thought it would be. I'm not convinced at all having watched the Racing there on Friday and yesterday, that it will be an NH track that is a great betting opportunity. The layout on a pretty narrow and tight piece of ground means that as the commentator very aptly suggested, that races will probably tend to be run at a moderate pace and then explode into action over the last 2-3 fences. It's also pretty tight space wise in that run in and the track only opens out from the second last. One to watch with interest and to see if the form there translates elsewhere  or if it becomes a specialist track like Uttoxeter / Southwell / Huntingdon where form seems not to translate to other venues that well.

We have some AW today but enough punting options over the preferred National Hunt game and we have tips in 2 races at Warwick and a couple of very well handicapped exposed types at Ayr that have genuinely captured our confidence and imagination.
